Goldfee 111,

I know exactly how you feel. I almost did a backflip when I got my EAD in my hand (but at my age, that was not a wise decision). I stayed up late and put all my paperwork together. Off I went to the Social Security Office the very next morning and as I strutted up to the window when my number was called, I smiled with glee :D . Yes, I thought, this is the moment that I will get the number, the KEY to unlock the door of unemployment. I smiled and chatted with the very pleasant lady and as I watched her closely, she was organizing my paperwork getting ready to hand it back to me. All I heard was 'I'm sorry but you will have to come back in another 10 days to' (wwhhhhhaaaaattttt,:no: ). I eventually thanked her and wished her a Happy Thanksgiving weekend as I left. Undaunted and determined, I will return on Monday morning  .

Try not to stress over the GC. If you have your EAD and your AP and a job...well that's in a much better position than many here, I'd say.

We all filed in August and I know there are some people who filed 5, 6, 9 months ago who still don't have their GCs. No worries, you guys! Once you get your EAD (good for a year) that should take some of the stress off.

To those still waiting for either EAD or SSN, try to hang in there. It's especially tough for us now, I think, because we want two incomes as we face the holiday season. P and I are feeling that, because he FINALLY got EAD (he already had his SSN from 98 when he lived in the US before) but now we're awaiting the background check at his employer. So, Christmas will be super tight this year. But I am thankful we are together. It could be sooooo much worse, ya know?

Any updates for the spreadsheet?

Jen - I know what you mean about it being tight. Luckily our electricity bill has gone down a bunch since we aren't needing to use the AC right now and since getting a car and gas prices dropping, that has helped a little too.

I've managed to scrape together a little bit of money so I can buy Jeremy's present from me, but we are having to use his income for all my family presents which is a bit of a 'mare... Although with the current exchange rate it is working out ok to buy things online in the UK to get them sent to people :)

Happy December, all. It's snowing! Woot! We don't have any real updates, but last night I did dream that we got my husband's green card in the mail. How sad is that?

Congratulations to anyone who got their GC, EAD, AP, or new job over the weekend.
