good luck to all august filers...

Patrick got the job!!!!!

Yay! Full benefits, including company-paid insurance for our entire family and a free yearly bus pass!

Ironically, I've been teaching here for 10 years with an MA and here he is, in this country for 3 months and he gets a job making way more than I make!

Of course I'm benefiting from it :)

Yay. Now we have the AOS interview on December 10th.

Is it just me or does it seem like AOS stuff takes much less time than K1 did? I feel like we waited for years....

Oh Jen that's wonderful news!!

Well I didn't have any nice surprise in the mail when I got back but I just checked online and my EAD and AP were both approved on 18th November!!! I can't really believe it and now I am really nervous about looking for work - I am such a big wuss and part of me felt that it had gone on so long that I wouldn't ever get a job - it's all so weird...

So now begins the job hunt...

Still nothing online for AOS but I figure that will come in time :)

hey

has anyone maybe the same problem to get the SSN?

i was in the end of oktober in the office to pick up my SSN and i was not verified...so they told me it need a couple weeks until USCIS update the case...i said well why they dont update when they approve EAD and the lady said well when u know the answer let me know lol

so i was there yesterday because i saw some people had the same problem and got the ssn after two weeks....no luck still not verified so they sent a paper to virginia and told me it can need again 4 weeks...THAT SUCKS i was so happy to got the EAD after 2 month and now i still cant work because nobody hires me without an SSN:-(((

ahhhhhhhh BTW second question...when i filed AOS i dont send the divorce paper from me last marriage...i have it here but its in german....so until now i get no REF about it...could it be that they dont need it????or that they ask for it when i am at the interview appointment??

and i saw that everybody can translate a form who is fluent in german and english...my husband is....so can he translate the divorce paper or have i go to an office ????

THANKS

My suggestion to you is go back to ss office and ask to speak with a manager. I got mine within 3 days. It looks like the guy who was processing it for me knew what he was doing. I applied on Friday and went back on Wednesday. When I got there, this lady who saw me just started reading the receipt letter I gave her and said I had to wait 30 days. Luckily the same guy who I applied with was there sitting right next to her. So I said, well the gentleman right next to you told me that ss office had to verify with DHS (clear it in the system) and that would only take a few days (2-4). So she went and asked him right in front of me. He said .. Oh yeah, I remember you. I actually did yours yesterday. I sent a letter in the mail for you yesterday, you're all set. So he told the lady she could issue me a number.

So, moral of story is .. some people know what they're doing there and some don't. I suggest you go back and ask to speak with a supervisor directly and explain your situation. They should be able to look up in their system and see if it has been cleared or not. Most likely it has. Doubt it would take so long .. as it is taking for you. The other thing that gentleman told me is that all he had to do is send the info to DHS from his system to theirs and he had done that when I applied. Then wait for a few days for them to clear it. So my friend .. get back to the ss office and ask.

Regarding your divorce papers .. I would certainly bring it. It doesn't hurt. Wouldn't volunteer to give it to them if they don't ask, but would definitely bring it.

Do not have your husband translate it, that's conflict of interest. Have a third party do it.

Good luck Goldfee111!!! Let us know what happens if you go back to the ss office.

Well I've only just started looking but there is an awesome position for an assistant manager position in a jewelry store which would be perfect! I just need to figure out the whole resume thing... How did everyone else get on with putting together a resume? I have a CV from the UK but it is two pages long and I don't know how they are structured here at all...

Oh - and am still taking updates for the spreadsheet so PM me!!! I updated a bunch yesterday so now is the time to get in before I get a job and have a life!!

As long as they sign it and have it notarized you should be fine. But check the requirements just in case.
