Who started throwing "idiot" around. Real sensible. Now go get #6 another beer before he gets angry.

Who's angry? Not me mate...

I guess I won't be sitting next to you on a bus anytime soon.

Now what was that you were saying again?

I just read some feedback on this story and someone was saying.. thank you gun control! You can look at it pessimistically as some have in this thread or you can think about what COULD have happened had this very sick individual had a gun of some kind.. it COULD have been much much worse. Thankfully the bus driver thought quickly enough to keep him on the bus, and disable the bus so it couldn't be turned into a weapon.

*let the "gun control" flaming begin!

UPDATE: (Apparently 'Badger' was no ordinary bus rider who simply snapped.)

TORONTO - A police officer at the scene of a fatal stabbing on a Canadian bus reported seeing the attacker hacking off pieces of the victim's body and eating them, according to a police tape leaked on the Internet Saturday.

In the tape of radio transmissions, officers referred to the attacker, who also beheaded the victim, as "Badger." They said he was armed with a knife and scissors and was "defiling the body."

"Badger's at the back of the bus, hacking off pieces and eating it," an officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said on the tape.

The RCMP described the tapes as "operational police communications and, as such, are not meant for public consumption." The tape was posted on YouTube among other Web sites.

Anyone keen on watching those videos is pretty sick too, in my opinion - unless of course they are involved in the prosecution of this criminal. Not an ordinary crime at all.

I have to agree, unless you have some direct involvement it's voyeurism of the worst type. I'd much rather people watch porn than violence. It's on a par with snuff movies in my opinion.

I'd like to know who this guy was. Obviuosly, he had some kind of history with mental problems.

Here's what was in this morning's Edmonton Journal:

The "accused" is Vince Weiguang Li, age 40. He worked as an independent newspaper delivery man for the Edmonton Journal, delivering the paper in the Clareview area (my neck of the woods in Edmonton).

His supervisor said he was a "nice guy" and a reliable worker. Monday Vince delivered the paper and after Tuesday, his supervisor didn't hear from him. The story goes on to say that he was married and he and his wife may have been having marital problems. His neighbors from his apartment building were interviewed and they said he was unfriendly and antisocial. He was apparently often seen at late hours of evening in the parking lot of the apartment complex walking around.

I think the news said earlier he had no prior history with police.

On another note, the victim was in Edmonton working the Capital Ex (akin to a county fair) and was heading home after it ended its stay in town.

So sad for this family. :(

The Crown has decided to pursue a 2nd degree murder charge rather than first. They're not certain they could get a 1st degree because they may not be able to prove premeditation.

I never rode the school bus except a few times for field trips, I never rode on a greyhound, I only rode a city bus 5-10 times when living in England. I'm not a bus person.

You haven't really experienced America until you have rode on a Greyhound for at least 1000 miles. It should be a requirement for citizenship.

what if I drove a car across the country? I will never ride a greyhound.

Car?? There should be a lunacy commission appointed! 1000 miles can be done in around 15 hours in a car. On "The Silver Slug" it will take at least 24 hours. No, you need the thrill of traveling with 50 other riders (25 who have completely given up on personal hygiene). Now a new twist has been added. I shall call it the "Head Lopping Factor". Statistically you should be fine, but.....

Sorry, that's just not a part of America I have any interest in experiencing...

I can't imagine he will get anything less than life in a psychiatric institution
