Hi all,

I have my AOS interview coming up, and the Interview request letter they sent asks for a "Certified Copy of the Marriage Document issued by the appropriate civil authority". I have done some research and have found several conflicting answers as to what this is. Does this just mean I have to bring my original official marriage certificate (got ours in NY), or do I have to get a copy of the marriage certificate certified by a notary public. If it the latter, where is the quickest and easiest place to get this done. Thanks a lot.

Did you get married in a courthouse or a private ceremony? If the court, the marriage certificate that you got from them is fine. It is be blue in color.

I'm not sure how it works if it's a private ceremony. You probably received the same one.

Another Trini!

Well you're in luck, I've got the same blue NY marriage license from city hall.

Take the original one, make a photocopy. Take both to the interview so that they can see the original and keep the copy. That's it.
