Bringing branded apparels or bag in US

I remember in local news before that bringing branded clothings like Mango, Guess, Sisley which is not made in US is strictly prohibited and they will be confiscated as it's considered imitation? I have Mango clothings which I bought before at Mango boutique in Saudi Arabia where I work before (it's cheaper their coz it has no tax) and some of it were made in croatia, Hongkong and China. Do you think it's an imitation even if I bought it in Mango store? Do people in the airport check for brands of clothes you have in your luggage to see if it's imitation?

I can't imagine this being real. During my travels overseas I have never had them check my checked bags...except when I arrived in Saudi...hahaha

Imitation goods are sold on the street in American cities all the time..it is illegal, but it goes on. There is no way to prove the clothing is not your personal clothing, so, If this is happening it would have been in the news here and I have not personally seen anything realated to this...don't worry...your bags that are checked will not be checked for clothing, just x-rayed and "sniffed" for explosives.

Yes, in Saudi they'll check your luggage but they apparently not checking on what brand of clothings you are bringing... and now when someone told me that in US airport, they go check your luggage particularly on the imitation apparels? don't know how true is that.... that's why I'm asking here

I crossed US border about a dozen times with two suitcases full of brand-name cloth and nobody ever questioned its origin. Do not even stress about it!!! The local news probably talked about importing stuff for sale You personal belongings will be safe! Edited July 31, 2008 by Ana&D
