As i got the NOA2

I started to fill the forms for the embassy.

In the D156-K they asked for some documents.

I'm divorced for years and I have my divorce decree.

But i don't have the marriage certificate do you think i really need to try to get it? but, i have what we call in France the "family book" where the marriage and the divorce are listed. It will be enough?

When applying for a K-1 visa, you don't need a copy of marriage certificates, just divorce certificates. You would only need the marriage certificates if you were married and applying for spousal visa like a K-3. Don't worry. :)

Actually, even when sending the initial K1 petition you need to include the marriage certificate if you are a woman who has changed her name. It is asked for as legal proof of name change . It's is in the Guides. ;)

I'm not sure how it works at the Embassy level but I would contact them and find out. My guess is that you will need it if you've used any other name than what is on your birth certificate.

I never changed my name, so i don't had to send a marriage certificate with the petition
