It happened when I least expected it. I was seriously looking, I thought online was a lost cause. After my last relationship and one prospect I found online, I was little jaded. I was on an islamic matrimony site, but totally did not think I would actually find someone, I thought I was killing time (found so many duds, ya know?). Then he contacted me. We chatted. Spent hours together. Day by day, he continued to spend time with me online. I thought he would get bored and stop contacting me. Something similar happened with other people I've talked to online...a flurry of activity, then one of us would get distracted and drop off the face of the earth or something. I thought it would happen by the two week mark. Day 15...16...17....still talking everyday, for hours and hours.

I saw his picture when I was looking at profiles, but I thought he was seriously too cute. I was never one to get much attention, much less from the cute ones, and I figured there were other elements at play as well so he probably wouldn't be interested anyway. But then he contacted me. And here we are.

I wasn't looking specifically for someone from another country, but I didn't consider it as a deal breaker.

BT

If I cause offense it is not on purpose, think about that before you take offense. If you feel offended, consider that maybe I'm not talking about you and maybe I accidentally stumbled onto a sore area and do not know. Thank you.

My marriage was pretty much over by late spring 2005 :( by the end of 2005 I was back living at home, alone and unemployed. Friends and family told me to go out on dates, with anyone, dosen't matter if I am not interested in them, just GO OUT! I was pretty depressed. I was dating one guy and he was so horrid I told him I moved back in with Anton in Chicago so he would stop calling me or emailing me  Early 2006 I was depressed, down on my luck, unemployed still. Awake at 4 am one night I was looking around on the dating site I used. Nothing in my town, nothing in my state. No responses from the ones out of state. I figured for shits and giggles I would look at what other countries had to offer. Always been a bit of an Anglophile since I was small so I decided I would have a look around in the UK. Searched Men in the UK close to my age who liked metal. I was reading one profile when I saw a link to HIS profile up at the top. I read it and thought, oh man, this is the kind of man I have always wanted!

I didn't send him a message that day.

I thought, I just got out of a marriage with someone from Europe, did I really want to do all this immigration ####### again if we hit it off? A few days pass and I just cant get the guy out of my head. I decide to send him a message saying hi, and that I really liked his profile and mentioned the distance, can we just be friends. This was 11 January. We exchanged messages there, moved on to Yahoo and talked every day. One night we talked all night pretty much (he even fell asleep in his chair for a while) on 4 February... I half heartedly said, "Aww I want you to be my boyfriend." wishing it were possible but knowing it wasn't. He took me seriously and was elated. :D hehe HOT ###### I HAD A BOYFRIEND! I went to visit him a month later. The moment we saw eachother at the bus stop went like this.

Me: Hi

Him: Hi

*kissing eachother's faces off*

Bus driver: Ma'am, are these your bags?

so my answer would be, I was still married but seperated on the way to divorce and only casually looking :) looking for someone to talk to really.

I realized I never answered this.

I was DEFINITELY not looking. I was single and loving life in NYC. Went to North Carolina to work at the summer camp in the mountains and met Stewart.....he was also NOT NOT NOT looking.

Six years later here we are.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Oo I never answered it either. I was NOT looking (I don't think I've ever been "looking" though, probably because up to the point I met him I was a student) and he was fresh out of a relationship and not looking.

Well, we "met" via Twitter in August '09 but didn't get to know each other until December. I was freshly out of a relationship and determined not to date again for awhile. But once we started talking, I realized there was no point to being single since I found the right man for me. (L)

A discussion in another thread prompted my curiousity.... seems like many of us found the loves of our lives when we were not looking...

single for a while, but not looking. I was in England enjoying the single life after a painfully long divorce in India. My cousin put my profile on a site and Daniel wrote to me. Didn't think much of it since he is 5-1/2 years younger to me. Casually wrote back in hopes of casual chatting and a few good laughs. Rest is history.
