I was single, but had kind of a ping-pong relationship with my ex-boyfriend where we would kind of go out every now and then, but we weren't together. I wasn't really looking for anything. I had just graduated from college, and was on a month-long trek in Europe. It was my first time abroad, and my first time travelling solo. I met my honey in a store where he was working. We chatted a while, and he invited me out. I was a little nervous since I was by myself in a foreign country, so I politely declined. I was 1/2 way to the metro stop when I thought, "why not? I'm in Paris, the most romantic city in the world, and a cute guy wants to take me out." So, I walked back by, pretending to be looking at something next door to his shop, and he came outside and chit-chatted with me some more. He asked me out again, and this time I said yes.

I wonder what would have happened if I hadn't turned back around that night? My life would be totally different now.

This was actually funny.

I met her first when she interiewed me and then she became my boss. We started disliking each other on a professional basis first, and then, as we became comfortable with each other work-wise, we became friends and then the rest......Definetly single and not looking at all.....I broke my life-long vow, no dating in the office :)

I had been single for a few months and when I met Anghel I wasn't looking at all and wasn't even interested in having a relationship. He was nice though so we talked a lot and then after about a month or so I started to realize I was falling for him.

I was looking for friends and went on a UK chat site and met this rather pompous annoying man trying to act all cool to the girls. I teased him for a bit and tried to pop his ego, but somewhere in the midst of trying to be Miss Smart/Cool Independent Single Gal I fell head over heels for this slightly cocky British man who turned out to be rather sweet and real. I can't imagine ever finding anyone more wonderful than him. He truly is my other half. (L)

So my question to you all, whether if it was your fiance/e or husband/wife that was joining you in the states, the week before they got here, were you cool & relaxed anticipating their arrival with no worries? Or were you a total wreck and stressed and so worried that something was going to happen to ruin everything and that last week just dragged on forever and ever?

I always deemed myself an optimist but I've always been dealt bad cards in the relationship department. I get the extreme high only to fall abruptly off the cliff once I reach the apex. I have always been a worrier and I am feeling it full force right now this last week. Is it just me? Or did any of you fret to high heavens before your fiance/e or wife or husbands arrival? I know I just need to take a deep breathe and relax. I miss him more now this last week than I ever had during the longest time that we were apart.... :(

Freshly out of a relationship and not looking.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I had been trying online dating off and on for almost 2 years, and had just gone on a really nice trip with a grilfriend during which I had decided I enjoyed being on my own surrounded by good friends and didn't want to date. I decided to pull my ad. Lo and behold, when I got home and went to pull it, there was this email from someone who seemed interesting....

I had signed up for an internet site and hadn't met anyone worth dating. One day, I was bored and I thought "I'm paying for the site, maybe I'll just see who's out there in other countries." So I was browsing profiles and saw HIS. I sent a message. I was discouraged because he didn't reply right away (turns out he didn't check his e-mail regularly). But once he replied . . . . . We talk to each other almost every day and have been together for a year.

Dammit! Every time I see this thread, I can't get the stupid song out of my head.

When I met my love, I was... petrified.

Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side.
