Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Shock and horror!

"Look kids, Big Ben....Parliament"

I have already informed my partner that if I ever have to drive in England (the only reason would be an emergency situation where I have to take him to the hospital) that I would be driving over those da*ned roundabouts.

Judge Judy rules!

Basically Chevy Chase get stuck on a roundabout and can't get off and repeats "Look kids, Big Ben....Parliament" every time he passes them. This the day before he knocks over stonehenge.

oh yeah, he is a chopf##k..i like when the family goes to the german home

Well, I'm one of the lucky ones. I have loved baseball since I was about 14. In recent years I have played at the top level here in the UK, The Rawlings National League. Furthermore I became a qualified coach at 2 local clubs, Windsor and Bracknell, and also for the Great Britain Junior team. So Tracy doesn't have to explain it to me, we can already talk it.

however, Tracy took me to the GEC in Nashville 4 times last visit to see the Preds play ice hockey. that she did have to explain to me but it's relatively simple, rules wise.

Baseball is impossible to explain in one or two games. All you can do is watch some games on telly together as well as going to the ballpark. Each time, you explain some bits of the game as you see them happen or as a question arises. After a few games an understanding of the greatest game in the world can begin to develop if the Brit involved is interested in the first place. :)

Channel 5 has been showing baseball live here now for a few years. The ranks of baseball fans is constantly growing here, albeit for the MLB and not the UK leagues. But it does show that lots of Brits are getting to understand what is happening. They still wont be able to tell you what happened in the 5th of game 3 of the '78 World Series, but hey, we're getting there. :)

I took my wife to an Angels game last year. We sat on the very last row- this way we could see the whole field. It was a lot of explaining and of course cowering after she cheared for the Brewers when they got a base hit.

Overall, since she doesn't drink alcohol, she was bored and we haven't gone to another game.

I had to explain to her why New Jersey drivers are such a$$holes.

Is it true they don't put their own gas in their cars in Jersey? What's up with that?

Aubry's thread about airplanes got me thinking. I have tickets for a baseball game next week and am taking Crash and Jr to their first game. It occured to me that even though I have been watching the game since I'm little I am not sure if I would be able to sit through the whole game and explain it pitch by pitch, hit by hit and so on...

So I'm wondering:

1. If anyone has any suggestions

and

2. If there was anything that you took for granted that you suddenly had to explain to your SO when they got to the US?

How would I describe baseball?

ROUNDERS

Was just about to say that. When I arrived here in the late 70s as a little kid, I would watch the Yankees games even tough I did not get the rules and once my uncle told me it was like the game rounders that I played back home, it made total sense and I have been hooked ever since.

Don't think hubby will ever like baseball and basketball as much as cricket. He wants to learn to play golf and all he watches is stupid Nascar. But the NBA playoffs kinda piqued his interest... He thought that Suns Clippers game last night with double overtime was exciting.

I had to explain why people look at him funny on the streets of NY when he says good morning and pardon me.
