Baseball and Other Stuff We Take for Granted

Aubry's thread about airplanes got me thinking. I have tickets for a baseball game next week and am taking Crash and Jr to their first game. It occured to me that even though I have been watching the game since I'm little I am not sure if I would be able to sit through the whole game and explain it pitch by pitch, hit by hit and so on...

So I'm wondering:

1. If anyone has any suggestions

and

2. If there was anything that you took for granted that you suddenly had to explain to your SO when they got to the US?

I don't have any suggestions on explaining baseball but I did have to explain football to Javier. Since his idea of football is soccer and I love, love, love American football. It was hard. I had never thought of how to explain it before and mostly he just sat there and looked at me like I was crazy. Eventually, after watching several games, he got it.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

I went to the beasball game 2-3 times... eventhough someone is explaining what is happening, it's just not make any sense to me and very boring - ended up chating about somthing else instead of the game lol

never been to the game with my husband though.. he'd have to explain to me everything too - I dont know if he'd get annoy of me or not

Baseball games are for drinking beer, eating hot dogs with special sauce and enjoying the weather. No explanation necessary......if an explanation is asked for then get him a beer.....everything will start to make sense by the seventh inning.

Hmm, interesting topic. I'm planning on taking Tamer to his first baseball game next month. I'm taking my cues from the silly Brendan Fraiser flick Blast from the Past. For those who haven't seen it, Fraiser's character grows up in a bomb shelter. His dad explains baseball to him, but he doesn't quite grasp it until he's grown up, left the bomb shelter and goes to see a game.

So, I'm going to explain the basics, then we'll go (already got some new Twins shirts from Target), and if he has questions or is lost, I'll explain. Hopefully though, he'll kinda just get it.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I was watching an NBA game some time ago, and it was dead exciting... Graham came in the room and asked what was I watching, I said basketball.... He said, haven't got a clue....

Started explaining and got all confused to a point where I thought I had lost the plot and when I saw the look on his face decided to try and start over again... I think he "sort" of understood but.... I also think he said he did so I would SHUT UP! HAHAHA

It is really difficult to explain once you know the rules inside out and everything seems simple for you but not for those who doen't get it....

Not a helpful post, but thought I'd share my experience...
