letters or chat every day

I was going through this post of Pattu Rani and one of the members suggested about writing letters to each other.

A year or so ago I had a talk with an old friend of mine, who is also in a long distance relationship (both of them are Indians and both live in India, so not that long, distance wise, but still long distance) and he was suggesting me how to make the bond more stronger, a couple should more write letters to each other compared to daily online chatting.

According to him a letter once a week is more meaningful, its filled with dreams and emotions and all those lovey dovey things, a couple don’t usually fight through letters but on the other hand when you are chatting daily, frustration creeps in and it can break the relationship also.

Now, I don’t follow that rule, for us, we have been together for 5 years and if I don’t hear from him even for one day, I get all worried, we both have to spend at least an hour every day talking and I do think we should go through every thing, fights, knowing each other’s annoying habits, sometimes let him think what a stupid girl he is married to and sometimes let me think what a stupid guy I am married to; not just the lovey dovey stuff but the reality needs to be faced.

What do you guys think about is better for a long distance relationship? Every day talk, let it be through phone or chatting, or writing weekly or daily letters to each other?

I am in no way degrading letter writing, I love to get hand written letters from my Joe, but I don't think I will be happy if that is our primary way of communication.
