Yep, we got this about 2 weeks before our scheduled interview. We went anyway (I think everyone here would agree that you should too just incase), and were told that we were being held up in the background checks.

Our interview was scheduled for Feb 27 and we heard nothing more until July 15th when we recieved an email from CRIS stating that card production was ordered. The card then showed up in our mailbox 5 days later!

Good luck to you not having to wait so long.

You think most people would go even though they received a USCIS notice that their interview was CANCELED?

Yes, I'd advise anyone to go, even though they receive a cancellation notice. Some people here on VJ have received them, then didn't show up for the interview and soon after get "Denied" for failure to show up to AOS interview notices in the mail. USCIS is a little messed up  we all know from experiences here and there.

Save the agony & stress of worrying what could happen if you dont go. My opinion is go. Be prepared as you would normally for the interview, with all proof in hand. Worst case, they send you home. Then at least you have peace of mind that you covered all your bases.

Someone posted here not that long ago that they received a cancellation notice, didn't go, then later received a denial letter because they neglected to show up for the (cancelled) interview. I would agree that most people here would suck it up and go just in case.

Our journey:

4/30/08 - AOS/EAD/AP mailed to Chicago lockbox

5/1/08 - packaged rcvd at lockbox

5/8/08 - All 3 NOAs received (dated 5/6)

5/8/08 - check cashed

5/10/08 - Biometrics letter received

5/27/08 - Biometrics appointment

6/10/08 - case transferred to CSC - YAY!

7/11/08 - rcvd emails that EAD card ordered and AP approved!

7/18/08 - AP rcvd

7/19/08 - EAD rcvd

7/29/08 - received email: card production ordered

8/2/08 - GREEN CARD RECEIVED IN MAIL!!!

Indeed. If you don't get a new appointment before you other one was to occur, I'd be going to the appointment. I think people advise this because of some cases (I don't know about recently) whereby people got a letter telling them of their cancellation and then heard nothing. When they made an info pass appointment they found out their AOS was denied because they failed to show up at the interview! I wouldn't take the chance personally. As a few posters already mentioned they got their new appointment letter before their old one was cancelled. The OP however is supposed to go this Friday. Personally I'd be going to that appointment unless he/she gets a new one in the next day.
