Packet 3 helps needed

OK so here's a few questions that I'm hoping y'all(see I'm almost a Texan already) can help me with in doing this packet 3 deal.

#1 The forms sent to me from Montreal consulate are out of date. I am assuming I print off the latest version from online instead of using the forms provided?(even though I read a caution against using forms they didn't send to us)

#2 The letter request DS-230 Part 1 which on their forms there is no part 2. The updated version includes a Part 2. Should I also send in the Part 2 of the updated form?

#3 Is it ok to hold off on sending in the DS-156K form and supporting documents and just bring it in to the interview with me? I'm still waiting for Police report and Affidavit of support.

#4 Do I have to have all documents in hand before I send in the checklist DS-230 and DS-156(online form in duplicate) or can I send it all in as the medical has been scheduled, the police reports have been ordered and the Affidavit for support will be on it's way soon.

#5...any suggestions you can offer to help make sure I do everything properly?

Thanks in advance everyone

disclaimer: we went thru the romanian consulate of course, and unless there are specific instructions different to your consulate, I'm basing my answers on our own experience

Make copies of the forms they sent you in case you screw up something, and fill those out; we didn't download anything from online; we used what they sent. N ow, if you got specific instructions to download forms from the online site, then do it that way, otherwise, like i said, just fill out what they sent.

#2 The letter request DS-230 Part 1 which on their forms there is no part 2. The updated version includes a Part 2. Should I also send in the Part 2 of the updated form?

Again, fill out what they sent you; if you got instructions from them to fill out part 2, then do it, otherwise, no need to.

#3 Is it ok to hold off on sending in the DS-156K form and supporting documents and just bring it in to the interview with me? I'm still waiting for Police report and Affidavit of support.

Not sure this questions makes sense. However, we gathered all our documents, then we sent in the ds-156k form; i know others sent the ds-156k form as they were gathering documents; we were in no rush, so we decided to send it once everything was gathered.

#4 Do I have to have all documents in hand before I send in the checklist DS-230 and DS-156(online form in duplicate) or can I send it all in as the medical has been scheduled, the police reports have been ordered and the Affidavit for support will be on it's way soon.

WE decided to send ours when we had all our stuff together; others have done it as they waited for paperwork to arrive...that is up to you and how fast you think ulll be scheduled and if youll have all the documents by then...

Make sure you follow instructions on what u got sent in the packet, and best to find somebody from your consulate, and send them a private message cause is best when others that have gone thru the same consulate as yours provide you with info. :star:

Thanks in advance everyone

The best responses are when you get lots of them! I suggest you start a new topic in the Canada Forum on this issue. I'll answer a few of your questions that I know the answers about.

Send back your checklist. Check off things that you still may be awaiting on, like medical, police check etc. You don't mail that stuff back anyway, you bring it to the interview. So no, you don't have to have everything you've checked in hand when you send the form back.

The wait times for Montreal are about 2-3 months right now I think, so with your package 3 information, and case file number, you can book your medical appointment with that.

Maybe someone else can answer your question about the forms. Odd that Montreal would send you outdated forms. I thought in Canada you had to do on-line forms now so that there is a barcode on your form. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

The 156K, bring to your interview. The 156, you return, or you won't get an interview date. It's a two pager, and you need both pages. Go to the USCIS website to get the latest version.

Again, if you repost this on the Canada forum, you'll have a much better response, and from people who recently just went through this for Montreal.

All the best!
