8 weeks of AP: What options do I have

We have been in AP now for more then 8 weeks and I know that is not as long as so many here. I cant stand this LIMBO so I have been looking into options to be with my husband. I am an RN so there is always the possibility of working in Australia or the UK for a 1 year contract doing temporary work (RN's are needed everywhere, that is to my advantage). I need to know if we do go to an other country for temporary work can anyone tell me if the visa can be collected at another embassy or would my husband have to return his passport to the Chennai embassy to receive his visa?

Another thought that has come to my mind is can an attorney do any good with AP or are we just at the mercy of the consulate to issue visa when they are ready?

I have already contacted senator and this AP is for document verification not for security or name checks. I would have thought 8 weeks was enough but I guess not. My patience has been weary this for some time but I keep hanging in there because I know this will eventually end with my husband getting his visa, but I see time going by so fast and there are so many things I wanted to do this summer with him (another year gone by so fast).

I hope there is some one who can give me some answers then I will have a better idea on how to procede. I have already contacted to agencies for work contracts in the UK and Austraila (did that today so no info yet), but I think it really sucks that I have to leave my country to be with my husband.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give

Could you go to India temporarily to wait it out? At least that way he'd be close by to get the visa. . .plus it would make it obvious to the Embassy that you mean business.

I would love to go and spend even 2 weeks with my husband but I had major surgery and was off work for a month, if I had the money I cant take the time :( . For the last 2 years I worked as a travel nurse and was able to take time off between contracts, after getting married I knew I needed to settle down for this process and now I am tied to a perm job till my husband arrives or else till I decide to leave the country(I cant work in India and make a living, I have bills here so I need to go where the money is enough to support my bills here and there).

Some times it just seems like everything is working against you (I know that is not true, I have so much to be thankful for but I always have to remind myself or have my husband remind me (L) ).

I know it is tough! We survived 11 months of AP/AR.

I suggest you use this time to pay off debt or save up $$ and improve your health. Although going to another country could be fun, I expect it would cost $$ - at least in the beginning. And you need to be healthy for your man :)

Keep the faith! You could plan a trip to his or another country if it appears to be going over 5 mths or something.

the senators office got word from the embassy that " documents relating to the relationship to the petitioner are being varified". Just seems that 8 weeks would have been sufficient (but that is my impatience). I just learned that to work in austrailia it would take 6-9 month of waiting and a 2 year contract...my husband will be here by then. oh well, I guess this summer is a bust and I will have practiced patience more then I ever wanted to

I know this is taking a toll on you. I believe you should wait until 5 month mark to make any moves. He may get his visa any time and you should be here. He should be in Chennai. It won't take too long, I am sure.

AP: Over 1 year.

Visa: Nov 2

US Entry: Nov 13, Alhamdulillah.

Go to UAE, You will safe alot of time. What you need is to be a residence in UAE for 6 months ( There are many Indian ).

You have to live together with your husband, have joint account in USA, USA address.

There are not many people applying Green card in UAE.

Your husband would need to return to the Embassy where the interview took place, turn in his passport (maybe even have a brief follow up interview) to have the visa issued.

If you are a registered RN, why don't you go back to India and volunteer your services to some clinic there. I know of many doctors and nurses who go to Dharamsala (Himachel Pradesh) for Delak Hospital in McLeod Ganj.

There are lots of charities that do work with poor people in India. This would solve your issue of being with your husband, wouldn't it? Seems better than uprooting yourself and your husband to go to a third country. While you may be able to work, he may not. That might be demoralizing for him to sit and watch you work when he can't. Then you would have to rush back to the US once his visa is issued and re-establish yourself (get back into work here). He would have to rush back to India. It all seems just as stressful as being seperated.

Administrative Processing is STANDARD PROCEDURE. So there is nothing an attorney can do to "speed the process." So basically you are at the mercy of the Department of State.

I am sorry, although I understand your frustration, I think you are jumping the gun a bit. Give it some more time. If you do decide to leave the US to be with your husband, then my suggestion is to go back to India for a while.

Nutty,

Kullu, Manali, (H.P.) India

that seems to be my personality to think of all the possibilties to getting what I want the quickest way possible (not always so quick when I research it all out). As far as volunteering I have bills here I have to pay so where ever I went I would have to make comparible amount of money (the UK and Austrailia but after researching this it would take 6-9 months to get the visa's...and my husband could work in both places with my going as a RN) and I am sure he will be here by then. I just have to cool my jets. I live a roller coaster ride and my downs have been a bit farther down since the interview and AP.

I really appreciate the support you all give. Thank You all
