Was rather an interesting experience here on the 7th floor. I've been given the rest of the day and tomorrow off, just in case this was a prequake!

Wow... fingers crossed its just a one-off.

I'd always heard they've been expecting the "big one" for years now. The last major out in CA was in the 90's wasn't it?

I need a drink too.

Everyone always talks about Northridge as being the scariest experience of their lives. What will I be like should there be one that bad if this is "not scary" according to you EQ vets?

Now THAT was an earthquake!! Northridge looked like a war zone afterwards...

Felt it pretty strong out here in Burbank. I thought my washing machine was unbalanced or something and shaking the house, then I thought, that would be one mother of a washing machine. Looked out the back door and all the trees and the telephone wires were flopping about. It felt like the ground was rolling beneath my feet, dogs were barking, car alarms bleating, etc etc.

I'm ashamed to say I thought it was pretty cool.

hehehe...when I saw EQ, I thought 'emotional quotient.'

I wasn't here for the Northridge, but CalArts had taken some damage that was visible when I went there in '96. That earthquake was still fresh on everybody's mind and I remember waking up at about 3am to an earthquake while sleeping in the dorms my first year. It felt and sounded like a truck slammed into the brick building. I remember falling asleep afterwards and then opening my eyes wide open with each aftershock...it was nerve-racking.

wow!!!!

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

What?! Where do you work? That is nice of them. I was on the 4th floor. I can only imagine what the top of the US Bank building felt.

haha. I think once you get used to them and they aren't threatening it is pretty cool. Its just one of those natural phenomenons that make you realize that you are so much smaller than what mother nature can do. The rolling ones are cool to see if you can actually see the roll. I remember in jr. high after school we had one and were out side and the plain wa open and the EQ hit and it just rolled. You could see the whole world like wave and roll like a slow moving roller coaster. It was very cool to see. no damage at all.

Earthquake Procedures - Employee Instructions:

• Duck down under a desk or sturdy furniture,

I read recently that getting under a desk or the like isn't the best idea. Often people are crushed under furniture they were hiding under when it collapsed. Crouching next to furniture is better, since if the ceiling falls, it will land on and crush the furniture, but a cavity will be created next to the furniture.

Aren't you supposed to get in doorways or something?
