BCG vaccine, positive skin TB test

I am just wondering, this is a possible situation:

I had BCG vaccine, that can make the TB skin test (TST) positive then the civil surgeon would need to send me to get a chest X-ray. The instructions for CS say:

"A chest radiograph is required for all applicants with a tuberculin skin test (TST) reaction of 5 mm or greater of induration, including pregnant (or possibly pregnant) women. Previously, the chest radiograph could be waived for a pregnant applicant if she had a scar or other evidence of BCG vaccination and denied having any TB-related symptoms. This exception is no longer permissible. If the applicant decides to undergo a radiograph during pregnancy, the possible risks of radiation to the fetus should be explained to her and informed consent obtained, confirmed by a signed consent form. If she wishes, the applicant may defer the radiograph until after delivery, but the civil surgeon cannot sign the medical examination form until the radiograph is performed and interpreted, and treatment for Class A pulmonary TB disease, if needed, is completed."

I am pregnant so my question is what's going to happen with my AOS application (that I submitted a month ago but received an RFE for TST skin test) if I refuse to have the X -ray (after skin reaction greater than 5mm) now but will have it after delivery. What should I do with this kind of RFE? I am thinking I would not be able to respond to this kind of RFE in that case, since the CS cannot sign the medical form until after I had the baby (4 months from now) and got the X-ray done.

Anybody has any ideas???????

I know for certain shots when your pregnant you can have them waived but if you can't have this waived i'm not sure. Is there any way you can have the civil surgeon send them something saying your deferring it until after the baby is born?

I don't think I'd be getting it done either and its crazy for them to want you to when your pregnant!

I would have the civil surgeon or your Dr sign a letter saying that you are pregnant and that you do not want to endenger your child's life and that you will do this after the delivery.

They should understand. Most of the time they put a metal plate in front of your belly to protect you just in case you might be pregnant but I wouldn't risk it if you don't have to.

The document tells you you can wait, they just need to have that information at one point or an other. Oh and if you have any proof that you had a BCG vaccine in your life, send that to, so they know that it's most likely because of that that you need the X-ray (and not that you have TB).

Just make sure you send something to answer to that RFE because your case will be put on hold until they receive it.

Best of luck.

Thank you for replies. But how do I send them something that "they" themselves say cannot be signed by the doctor. How do I send them a medical report not signed by the CS????????

It just makes me maaaaaaaaaaaaaad that they require pregnant women to put the baby in danger! I am not crazy!!!!!!!!!! I would rather never get this stupid green card than put my baby at risk.....................So frustrated.

I am trying to find out how...

I will noooooooooooot put my baby in risk for anyting in the world.....I just need to know how to respond to an RFE like this...If I refuse to take the X-ray the doc will refuse to sign, and there is no way I can send the I-693 because there will be no CS certification. It seems like they (USCIS) don't have everything figured out and I am getting more and more frustrated with this biurocracy.

Why would they want me to put my baby at risk? Harm a little human being before he's even seen the world??????????????????

Hi how are you;

I don't know why the gave you a TB skin test and you're pregnant. My friend just went through this. She was told she didn't not have to do the skin test, because if it comes back postive (which it did) because she also received the useless vaccine BCG she will require a chest x-ray, which they can't do because she's pregnant. She did not received an RFE for a skin test

Just wondering...

You entered US with K-1, that means you have X-ray film with you from K-1 medical taken in a few months, right? Can you convince CS with it? If you have it, it's worth to try, I think. Maybe talking to other CS is another option.
