Hi.. evryone.. I am new here.. I have a question and I hope you can help me... I got my stamp I-551 and expire 6-14-06. But my Permanent Resident Card shows that expire 6/15/07 should I wait to remove my conditions or should I do it rigth away?

When was your AOS approved? If you have a two year I-551 card that should expire two years after the AOS was approved and you can file for removal of conditions anytime within 90 days of the I-551 card expiring.

As mdyoung said.....we were told at the AOS interview that 2 years from the day the AOS was approved we can apply and that we have a 90 day window . Not 2 years after marriage....

The way to find out if you love someone or not, is by talking to them.

The more you talk to them the more you either hate them or love them.

thanks mdyoung for your answer..

I received my I-551 on 6-15-05 one year after we got married.

the stamp shows valid until 6-14-06..

but i received my resident card after my interview and expire 6-15-07

We got married in June 2004

Guero,

The I-551 stamp is typically valid for only one year. It is meant to be a temporary evidence of your status--until you get your Green Card. You now have your Green Card, so that is OK.

Look for the expiration date on your card. You must file I-751 by that date to keep your status alive. You may NOT file more than 90 days before that date.

I agree, you should file the I-751 Removing Conditions form 3 month prior or a 90 days prior before the expiration of the Conditional Card. Thus ,in your case you should file your I-751 on 3-15-07 .

Also on 3-15-08 you will be eligible to apply for the Citizenship even if you will not get the Permanent Green Card in your possession by that time,it doesen;t change anything :) ,you still will be able to file for the Citizenship.

Good luck!

Sincerely.

I didn't check these dates, but I like to remind everyone that they *should* check them by using a date calculator that you can find online. If you file too early, your money will be gladly taken from you, but your form will be returned to you.
