I AM APPLYING FOR AOS FOR MY NEW WIFE. WHEN SHE HAD HER INTERVIEW, SHE RECEIVED A BLUE SLIP BECAUSE HER 'CERTIFICATE TO MARRY' HAD EXPIRED. SHE WAS TOLD TO MAIL THE NEW DOCUMENT IN WITH HER PASSPORT. SHE RECEIVED HER VISA WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. I NOW REALIZE NEITHER OF US RECEIVED THE K-1 APPROVAL LETTER. NO ONE CAN TELL ME HOW TO GET A COPY. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS IN ADVANCED. THE I-485 INSTRUCTIONS SAY YOU NEED THIS APPROVAL LETTER.

Hi there it will be sent to the petitioner, which is you. Its the same form as the notice of action letter I-797C. Try to check your letters from them and see if you might have it and just overlooked it says on theupper right corner of the letter I-797C and if you go read through it you will see APPROVAL NOTICE. Or if you really dont have it better to call USCIS. Good luck

Thanks for the help but I haven't received anything from the Consulate and the visa was issued on 06/19/08. I just got off of the phone with USCIS and thy said they can't do anything...I have to contact the Consulate in Guangzhou. China and you know what a treat it is to contact them!!!

The approval letter that you need to send in with your AOS is not from the consulate. You would have received this from USCIS after they approved your I129F (before it went to NVC and then to the consulate). This is what people on VJ call the NOA2. They want you to send that in. Not some visa approval letter from the Consulate.

Now, if you really never received or have lost your NOA2, you can request another copy of this approval notice using form I-824 and paying a $340 fee. This of course takes some time to process.
