Hi guys, I am new to the forum, and really enjoy reading all of the helpful hints. I searched for a few of my questions, but found no concrete answers. I will be filing the initial packet in about 3 weeks, and needed some help.

I am so excited I leave for Bogota in a few weeks, my second trip this year and i will be getting info from mi Colombiana when i am there, and filing when I return here.

My questions are: First, do I need copies of both of my divorce decrees or just the most recent one. and just to make sure, on the G325-A forms, both I (the USC) fill one out with my information, and my Fiancee (the Beneficiary) fills one out with her information.

Thanks so much in advance for any help...

D. If either you or your fiancé(e) were married before, give copies of documents showing that each prior marriage was legally terminated.

I would place the both just in case.

Also tell your Colombiana to go there:

Good luck! Also make sure that you are actually divorced before sending the I-129F!!! Someone sent the I-129F without having finalized his divorced (divorce was in progress and it was finalized while the I-129F was still in process at USCIS). Guess what!!! Application denied.

this is interesting, I would not have thought to ask. What if you don't have copies of decrees from previous divorces? It was so long ago, I don't even know where to start to get one. I would think the purpose of a decree from your most recent marraige would be sufficient as the purpose is to show you are legally free to marry. Also, my fiance tried to get a copy of his Decree, but was told it was too old and all they gave him was a certificate stating he was divorced and free to marry. Is this sufficient?

City hall or court house where you divorce papers are kept. They will provide you with a certified copy of the divorce as they did for me. Most city governments will have a web site these days where you can actually find the information about where to go to ask for these divorce papers. It only takes about half hour to get them as long as you know where to go.

Good luck!!!

Just call the County in which you were divorced and ask for a certified copy of your decree to be sent to you. It's usually $20 or so. Certified means it has a raised seal or gold stamp...

If you were married... you must prove you were divorced each time and that you are legally allowed to marry now. If you think thats interesting.... just wait. ;)

I googled, "Washington Certified Divorce Decree". You might try the same using the name of your State.

Mine actually cost me $15 USD each. I asked for 2 so I spent $30 USD. I sent on for the interview in Bogota and I kept another for my new marriage in September.
