This is a video clip about old dangerous tires being sold as new and blowing out.

Please watch and check your tires from now on. ( Short commercial in front ).

Yikes, my son needs to replace a couple of tires on his car. I will forward him this link.

The video is worth watching. Thanks for posting.

One solution is to actually buy used tyres (such as if the car they're being put on is an old clunker--as they're usually cheaper than new ones)--as you already know the risk you're taking then.

The link is no more.. :dead: I suppose I'll just have to trust out local ghetto garage not to sell us used tires! :lol:

The link works.... and the story is not about remoulds or used tires.

in summary.... there is a 3 or 4 digit number on your tires that is at the end of the DOT info

the first 2 numbers is the week the tire was made and the last one or two is the year

235 = 23rd week of 1995

2305 = 23rd week of 2005

0501 = 5th week of 2001

Apparently in the UK tires are considered no good after 6 years.... NOT 6 years of use.. just 6 years.

I bought "used" tires at a tire shop here..a Cuban shop, but I knew they were used and they were in very good condition. Tires for my car are expensive about 150.00 each..and I got them for 50.00.. I guess it depends where you get them, mine were probably almost brand new that someone got new fancy rims and tires for a car..so then they trade the old ones..that aren't so old. But Lying about weather or not they are used that's another story!

The original story is not about used tires. :sigh:

Very good story IMO.

My set of tires were manufactured the 36th week of 2007, purchased in late 2007, but the spare tire - identical to my 4 tires mounted to the axles, HAS NO DOT NUMBER BECAUSE IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN MEXICO. Good to be aware of all of this, IMO.

Spare is from set of tires on Jeep at the time of this photo... Gulp! :blink:
