Oh, and Deadpool, just ask your wife how she would feel had it been you asking the questions in the way it was done, perhaps after that you might not be so sanguine as to this particular way of gathering information.

That's irrelevant to the situation at hand. My wife may or may not be anything like this man's wife. So how my wife would react would be no indication how any other woman would respond.

Of course she's different but I am suggesting that she wouldn't tolerate your asking personal questions and giving out even little bits of personal sexual information relating to her on this or any message board without her consent and nor should she and I will go on to suggest that that is probably a pretty universal response to doing things in this way.

Whereas if you were to for example ask the question "Is giving blow jobs a common sexual practice in the USA"? and asked for opinions your wife wouldn't find that offensive.

That is my argument regarding how these questions are worded and the potential for both embarressment and worsening the relationship between these two people.

I would think that too. Time on VJ has told me otherwise though. It seems many women don't see these to be personal issues at all.

In the case of the OP though, if what he's saying were true, then you'd be right I think.

It surpises me how much people like to broadcast their sexual lives on message boards too, but if that's what floats your boat...

However, the OP was definitly suggesting his wife was sexually conservative and I just can't see how having a discussion on a message board is going to change that positively and that's if she doesn't get wind of what he's up to...Still, I could be wrong.

I wouldn't want to discuss information so personal online (or with others in real life, either), but he was looking for help and information. I felt that answering his questions, instead of chastising him for attempting to do something positive (even if his methods were a bit unusual) was a better solution. Whether or not anyone else here feels he did the "right thing" or that you would do the same isn't really the issue. He asked for help. That's all there is to it. Either we give him some or we don't. Regardless, there's no need to rake him over the coals.

He only asked a question. We don't know him or his wife, so I see no problem with his question.
