brother, these type of threads ..bring out the comedians in some folks (me, included at times)..but in your case i will offer a suggestion...

you need to be very nuturing and talk in a patient and rational manner to your wife...in this area..

explain what you feel would enchance your relationship and make certain to validate, that you respect and love and care for her..and this is something you see as benefical for both and improve this part of your marriage...

.if she becomes defenseive..don;t argue..back-off dor now and revist the topic at a later date.....

That may not be the intent, but it would be the effect if she found out about it, I am sure which is hardly going to illicit a more open relationship in that area.

That much I can agree with. However, we don't know all the details. Are they currently living together or are they apart (like many of us are) at the moment? If they aren't together, then whatever time they do have will probably seem much more important (sexually and otherwise), since they'll lack the time to experiment. In addition, if they are apart, they can't realistically see a therapist to help with this issue (assuming she'd agree to see one), so his options are therefore limited to...

1. Continue doing what he's been trying (even though it's unsuccessful).

2. Ignore the problem, hoping it might go away on its own.

3. Deal with it and maybe, sometime later, seek help.

4. Ask for any advice he can.

I'd think asking for help on a message board would be far less humiliating than getting advice from a friend or family member, since we're not a part of this person's life. We'll probably never see them off this board and if we did, we wouldn't know who they are without some sort of introduction. A friend or family member, on the other hand, would be too close and know there's something "wrong" in the relationship. I'm sure his wife would be far more upset at knowing his best friend or mom, dad and siblings got their two cents in, as opposed to some faceless individuals on a message board.

If he wanted information he could have asked without making any direct reference to his wife or her conservative nature. He could also have chosen a more appropriate message board, in my opinion.

However, I still maintain that the only solution to poor communication, whatever the reason for it, is to get professional help. He could find out that for example oral sex is not universally enjoyed by women but that still doesn't tell him if his own wife would or wouldn't enjoy doing it so he is back to the same problem of how to introduce the subject with her albeit he is now armed with the information that not everyone is "doing it".
