My fiancee and I have been chatting for almost 2 years. Along with other items, I plan on sending her several of our chats as evidence of our ongoing relationship. My original plan was to send one chat from each month but with the average chat 5-6 pages long, that's quite a large bundle of paper (about two inches thick). Is it a good idea to send this much or is it overkill? How many would be enough to safely satisfy requirements?

Thank you

I think 1 for each month of a 2 year relationship is overkill. How about 4 or 5 of the most relevant ones? Pieces that show a genuine bond and are not too soppy. You don't want the key pieces to be overlooked, because there is just an overload of information. Less is more!

trey,

Two inches of paper is way too much.

Beyond that, quality is more important than quantity. No matter what poundage you plan to send, read every bit of it very carefully from a 3rd-person point of view. People have hurt their cause by sending information that raises questions in the mind of the adjudicator or has been outright detrimental to their case.

When you're done with your review of what you plan to send ask yourself, again from a 3rd-person point of view - "How do I feel?" Then ask yourself, "Do I want the case officer to feel the same way?" (I know how I'd feel after reading more than just a few pages. If someone can't make their point in a couple of pages they aren't going to be able to make it any better in a couple hundred pages.)

 I agree with Mand! Me and my fiance now husband had tons of relationship evidence too, but we just pick some for emails, ecards, post cards, letters, cards and phone bills to sent in our K-1 package. During my K-1 interview I brought some of this things too. Also, I would be a good idea if your fiancee will bring your first email or letter to her on her K-1 interview.

Good luck to both of you and the rest of your journey!

I sent only a few very brief emails with our K-1 application from different stages of our relationship, but no more than 10 pages total.

I think 2 inches is more than overkill and nobody has time to read all that anyways.

Good luck with the process.

Trey,

When we submitted our paperworks, we only included 3 or 4 of our emails (@ 4 - 7 pages each), some pics and copy of phone cards. We sent the package with a letter mentioning these are some of evidence that we sent along but we have more should they request it, just to let them know about the fact. I don't think you need to send too many because they don't really look at it though. (I guess they getting tired to read such evidence, can you imagine how many case they got each month? LOL)

The most important evidence (I think) is pics of you two together in the last two years and would be nice if you also have pics with her and her fam or your fam.

Last, lots of pray! ^_^

Good luck!

I didn't include any actual print outs of chats. I included a few screenshots of our email inboxes that showed that we had been emailing each other consistantly for several years, but I didn't include any content of the messages.

This was sent along with copies of cards sent to each other, boarding passes and pictures of us together, and we go through a-ok.

Overkill! I didn't submit anything other than 2 photos and my itinerary with the I129f.

For her interview my fiancee took copies of 5 emails and 5 chat records and they looked at one email for about 5 seconds.

Don't send so much paperwork that your fiance/e has to stand there for 5 hours just showing a small part of the documentation! comprende? good Luck

I am sending my fiance some of our emails for his interview- I printed out one from when we started talking then one every couple of months then or 2 a month for the past 3 or 4 months to show that the relationship is ongoing which I think is what they want to know... I put the most recent ones on top. I think I have about 14 pages of emails in all. Good luck!

dont send em that stuff. Their only interest at this point is that you have the right to petition (USC), that you have met at least once in the two previous years, you are free to marry.....and nothing else. Chat transcripts dont prove any of these points. The USCIS is in no position to guage the quality of a relationship. Only a CO with a face to face interview can do this, so save that stuff for the interview with pictures, etc.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Some self-quotes:

"May our days be comfortable and our drama entertaining."

"When it comes to attempts to force equality there are many wrong ways to do so. You cannot command understanding or tolerance. You can only command obedience. Obedience implies that the one giving the orders has power over the one being given the orders. Where is the equality in such a situation? Education and patience teach equality, not force."

Screen shots are a better idea than actual printouts... anyone could 'forge' text, dates, etc. using MS Word or the equivalent... I'd focus on things that are unique, like airlines receipts, phone bills, pictures, etc.

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I sent none of this - wasn't a problem. Save all of that for the interview (even then, it would still be overkill). Take your stack of paper and drop it in the mail (so it gets there in time).

I emailed all of this stuff in PDF to my wife, though she didn't end up needing it.
