Hi everyone,

Here's the situation. We filed for Adjustment of Status (Green Card) in July. USCIS received it July 15 and we got a timely NOA1.

We recently got a letter scheduling for her biometrics for Aug 2. They gave us about 8 days notice when I got the letter in the mail to when we're to go for biometrics.

We currently have a 10-day honeymoon planned for early September. She's concerned that they will schedule the interview while we are gone and the interview date will pass before we get back.

So the question is, how many days between getting your interview appointment in the mail to the actual appointment? She's really concerned and wants to cancel the honeymoon, which I'm willing to do, but we lose 1/2 the money, so obviously it would be ideal not to do this. =)

I can only speak from my own experience. I had my biometrics done in May. About a week later I received a interview letter. My interview was in August. I had lots of time. I too received a letter for my biometrics appointment that only came a couple of weeks before my biometrics as well. I think a lot depends on how busy your local office is. You may not even have an interview. Probably 3/4 of the people on VJ here, have their cases transferred to CSC after biometrics, and have their AOS approved without an interview.

Thanks Carla! Yeah, I'm hoping to get a few people's input to gauge the timing, so I really appreciate your input from your experiences.

I called USCIS and the guy said, from his experience, there should be a month between sending out the notice and the interview date.

Thanks again!

Thanks!

As it turns out, now she doesn't want to go until she has an interview date set or receives a letter saying it's not necessary. She says that if we go before learning anything, she'll worry during the honeymoon. So, unless we hear something from USCIS, we may end up putting it off until later. We'll see. :)
