We're still waiting on our K1. His interview was on July 7th. According to Sue at DOS, the consulate started working on issuing the visa on July 29th. So we're hoping to hear something soon. I emailed Casa to see if they tell us anything. No response yet. Hopefully sometime this week.

I hope my wife can get her interview in September, the NVC operator told os US embassy in Cairo is very busy, so it may not be until October. For that reason my wife may come back from Egypt and stay with me in Texas for a few weeks using her B1/B2 visa to wait for interview.

We got married in San Antonio, Texas on 4/16/2007. She was residing in Qatar as a senior dentist for an oil company, came to visit Texas on April 5th, we fell in love and got married, left for Qatar in May, came back to Texas in June and stayed until December, both traveled together to Guatemala (my home country) December and back in January. Now she left for Cairo on July 5th, 2008 and hoping to have her back here in September.

Yes, she is a muslim and I'm a Christian, but we love and accepted each other keeping our religions aside. For that reason, it is difficult for me to travel to Egypt unless I convert. She told me if I go we could not be seen together because our marriage is not recognized there and we could be watched. For that reason we will live half of the year in Texas and the other half in beautiful Guatemala.

Let's keep in touch!

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
