His Sister was hired at a Medical University to start as a lecturer in addition to her PhD fellowship begining at John Hopkin's in October. She can leave now but no later than October. She has two little girls, Arwa 4 and Sarah 2, and their Dad is tied up with sueing the University in Egypt for not allowing him to have his disertation thesis for his PhD because they want to screw around with him and make them work an extra year for him. Either way it isn't going to end friendly. Waleed would be watching the two little girls while Ghada is at her job and her studies. I assume Ghada would be doing the cooking and cleaning but Waleed can cook and clean as well. Waleed is only doing this until Ghada's Husband, Mahmoud, is in a place with the lawsuit where he can follow her to the US. She's already been delayed for her education because she waited the year prior on Mahmoud finishing his PhD at John Hopkins. Now she has the green light to go and everybody has already got their visas in order except for Waleed's pending in 2-3 weeks. What doesn't make sense about that?

No going to live there with them is not an option. I don't have the money for the tickets and I'm already tied up with school for this semester and on the line for financial aid already spent.

The set of circumstances makes sense, however the proposed solution doesn't.

There are other alternatives. Mahmoud can come with, take care of his daughters, and return to Egypt when need be. Egyptian justice is notoriously slow and he has legal representation to alert him as to when he has to appear. It is also possible to withdraw the lawsuit and refile it later, when Ghada is finished with her obligation. If not, maybe he can ask the court for an extension. Also, the two daughters can stay in Egypt with their father, where there is also extended family to help. They aren't old enough to be in school so that shouldn't be a problem.

I understand Ghada and Mahmoud have pressing needs and these are things they don't have control over. They can, however, control how they react and the type of support they enlist to get them through these experiences.

Waleed living across the country from you isn't the only answer. It's just the easiest answer from their point of view. However, theirs isn't the only one that matters. There are other things to consider - your needs, Waleed's needs, your future together - the big picture.

Does that make sense? It's late. I'm tired. Sorry.

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear Amanda. Its amazing how one bad sup can make so many lives miserable and basically ruin the whole moral in an office :(

You're right Lisa. It makes it so I don't even want to come in to work and that is not very motivating once I actually make it to work.

But very good news though....I just got a call a few minutes ago for a job interview for a competing company for Monday at 12:00...if I get hired then I will be starting like 3 levels higher than I already am right now! So pray for me ladies!!! This could be my big break!

I'm tired today. I unpacked my room last night and a huge spider in one of my boxes scared the he11 out of me. Today the battle continues with Waleed. I'm really sick and tired of him not listening to me and not taking me seriously and having to go to such extreme measures to get him to take me seriously and listen to me feels rather pathetic. He thinks he has options to give to his Sister that he doesn't really have. Gawd I am so exhausted from it all.

Thanks Amanda. I don't know what to do anymore. So today after classes I'm going home and going back to bed and pulling the covers over my head. I can't deal with it anymore. I'm shutting down communication with him and I don't want to talk anymore.
