Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Thats awesome of you Amanda ~ very inspirational to us all, keep us posted on this new journey! :star:

Thanks ladies...made it through the first day. I am trying really hard. I did have to drink a little water at noon, but I made it from 4:30 am to 8 pm without eating....I think that is pretty good for my first time fasting.

Good Morning!

Just wanted to say, hubby and I made konafa yesterday for the first time. Although it took us several hours and we had to do some weird stuff (recipe was in Arabic and hubby was confused on a few things & I couldn't help him because I can't read Arabic!)...we made it and it was good! Reminded me of Jordan so much and how I want to go back. I can't believe that its already been almost a year!!!! :crying:

I made it once and it was crispy like a sweet Dorito :P My hands were orange and my kitchen was mess. After that, I decided it was cheaper and easier to drive to the arab store and buy a slice :P

Lol...we made the "non-hairy" kind as Raad calls it. We don't have an arab store that is within reach...closest one is 2 hours away. The one that was close to us closed right before Raad arrived. :( So we have to do our best!

Thought we could get some fresh air while waiting!

How is da 'waiting 4 something' people doing?

I am waiting for December, patiently counting down the days til Ibrahim can fly home. I am secretly hoping that after Eid he will try to get permission to leave early. If not, I have to know that everything happens for a reason.

Hi my MENA ladies....as my life seems to be filled with drama...here is yet another little story I will share with you. I am going to try not to make it long...

My sister, who is 4 years younger than me, has lead a totally different life than I have. She jumps from job to job, man to man....she had a baby out of wedlock when she was 20, then married the father only to separate from him a few months ago (married for a little over a year). Immediately after separation from her husband, not divorced yet, she was with another guy (who is on probation for a felony charge, no job, living with his parents...etc)...she was staying over at his house on the weekends. After a couple of months they had broken up and seriously like the next day some new guy was over at my parents house (oh yeah, my sister is living with my parents) every single day. Apparently she knew he was a drug addict, but he said he was clean for about 5 months...she told him if he did drugs again she would stop seeing him and of course after dating about a month or so, he did drugs and she dropped him.

Friday, my husband was at my parent's house and he called me to say my sister had flown off to California to see a "friend" for the weekend. She never mentioned to me she was going anywhere, nor that she had a friend in California. She didn't call me while she was gone or respond to my text message or FB comment. Yesterday I was forced to wait 1 hr & 45 minutes after work to wait to pick her up at the airport. Over the weekend I was trying to think of who she could be going to see...well I put 2 & 2 together and it finally hit me. My best friend, who now lives in a different city, got married while we were in college....long story short, this guy cheated on her tons of times and did drugs behind her back, they have been divorced for a couple of years. Someone told my friend that on the night of her wedding, my sister slept with her husband...she just told me this last year. He, of course, now lives in California...that is who she went to see. She swears it was just friendship and nothing happened...really??? She doesn't care about her now 4 year old daughter...just jumps from man to man and lets her daughter get attached to each one and then he leaves....her own father is a deadbeat. I got angry with my sister on the 1 hour drive home yesterday and spoke my mind but obviously she doesn't care. She said "I didn't want to tell you and you flip out, then you tell [my best friend] and her flip out...I just didn't want that kind of drama." I told her, "well you should have know that it was a bad decision then if you knew it would upset several people." She said it wasn't a bad decision. There are tons of things that she has done that I won't go into....it has really had a bad affect on my mom, who already is battling bad depression.

So now I am in the spot where I should tell my friend what my sister has done...I don't want her to hear it from someone else, but I don't want to hurt her either. I swear....I cannot fathom why my sister has to act this way. It is hard to believe sometimes that we come from the same parents.

Comment as you like & discuss....

There is a wonderful mix of MENA vj'ers ---------some have their SO's here and some are waiting. This thread is for the ones clicking on the USCIS website 1,000 times a day. For the ones having to rely on webcams and phone cards to sustain their relationships.

Check in and let's keep each other company while we wait. What are you doing to fill your time?

I am a June filer for CR1 and July for K3.

I did see some May filer approvals ! Are you all checking alot to look for a 'touch' ? Rajaa did you get touched yet?

Lulu just escaped and on his way to NVC..... Who else is waiting here? Lulu you keep us posted here on your progress.

eta: Does the K3 noa come quick?

Hi I filed the I129 in late May but have not heard anything since the NOA1.

Mohamed and I talk a lot on the phone....very expensive and use the cam also.

I check everyday many many times a day!!!

Honestly I spend my time worrying all the time and missing Mohamed

thinking about where he is and what he is doing when we aren't talking.

With the time difference and our work schedules it is hard for us to talk.

We do manage to talk at least once a day though.

Welcome Tracee. I hope you guys hear something soon and are reunited quickly. If you need to vent, share,laugh...we're here for that. :D

Lisa

amanda,

why do you need to tell the BF if they are divorced now? I think it would bring uneccesary harm to her. She does not need to know that at this point. Thats my feeling.

Im sorry that your sister is a zoo. Im even more sorry for your niece that she doesnt put first. :(

I agree with Lisa. I surely don't want to know what my ex is doing or WHO he is doing it with. What I have learned in my many years 'just cuz you know something, doesn't mean you have to tell it'

*waves HI to tracee! hop up on our 'waitin couch' and make yourself comfortable. (bring snacks :P )
