Where's Betsy? She may already know, but Ahmed and Tariq met up today in Cairo. Hee hee, small world. VJ....bring the world together

That is so cool. :) My husband met a couple of my VJ friends' husbands in Jordan as well...one of them being Jackie's husband. It is a small world, although I wish I were closer to some of you ladies so we could meet up one weekend and bring our MENA husbands together (once they are all here).

Thats a really great idea Amanda, its been talked about before. I've read about the regional meetups folks have done and the pics from those look like everyone has a really good time.

If families can plan huge family reunions with - VJ'ers can do it better!!!

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I like the idea of another VJ meet-up but I think I'm getting ready to find a job for when Waleed comes so I need to save up money and limit travel to necessity. I'm still going to take the GRE anyways but I really can't justify going to Graduate School paying loads more money on education when I haven't found a graduate program I am satisfied with. It can wait for me. I'll be in Moscow for another semester and so far the plan is if he gets the visa he wants to stay and work until January or right before Christmas so he can bring money with him and not be empty handed when he comes. We are looking to move to Seattle since we have contacts there with couples like us and for better work opportunities and proximity to my family in Idaho and extended family in Seattle area. So I may potentially be back and forth for job interviews from Idaho to Seattle over the next couple of months. In the meantime we plan to stay at Mom's new 5 bedroom house while he's in the 3-5 month waiting period where he can not work but I will be looking for a good job I can apply my 4 year degree to and get a better paying job finally then I've ever had and move us as soon as I can. I've always been a downtown living type of girl in the middle of things and I appreciate historic apartments and public transportation and I feel he would be comfortable with that coming from Cairo. I told him we need to buy a car also. He said maybe a $2000 car and I said no more around a $5000 for a good used one that will last us a couple of years. My Mom told me she is willing to co-sign for one for us as long as I get a descent job and we need one for transportation. So we're having a direction for us to start our lives. Even though the next couple of months will be another slow turtle wait we will be busy like beavers building our lives preparing for the lotus blossom chapter of our life together.

Hey ladies, I have just been lying low today. Trying to recover from the emotional roller coaster of yesterday. I really am still numb from the whole experience and what should have been a super happy day now seems like not so much. Hubby of course has a better outlook than myself. He said he really expected AP knowing how things go down in Cairo. Ahhh well I am glad one of us can look at the positive side of things. Now I really feel lost. Before, at least I had something to check on or something to send out. Now we just sit in the big black hole and wait. I plan on calling the DOS on Monday and continue on from there. I guess the only thing I can say is that since they kept hubby's passport surely it won't be toooooo drug out. Sharifah yes hubby told me about meeting Ahmed. I think that is sooooo cool. They had a nice talk and hubby filled your Ahmed in on what to do next. Ahmed gave my hubby a lift to the bus station for his trip back to Mahalla. Aren't they just precious?
