So sorry to hear of the situation at work with your hubby, that really is shameful on the company. I used to work in Raleigh at the Dept of Labor for 8 1/2 years before I moved here to KY, and NC is an employment at will state, which basically means an employer can run the business however they want, as long as there is no discimmination, which is based (as most everyone knows) on age, race, gender, national origin, color, disablity or pregnancy. In NC, if you feel you were discrimminated against, you need to contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, sadly, I have forgotten the number, but you can call 1-800-NC LABOR and the ladies (or one gentleman) will be able to give you the number. If the EEOC can't help you, and in all honesty, they probably won't, as all the burden of proof is on you, it would be best to consult an attorney.

Sadly, in today's times, people are very discimminatory and they can freakin' get away with it....even I was discrimminated against and I worked at DOL!! My manager (who is no longer there) was an #### and he had his faves that were always "telling" on me and my hispanic co-worker, such little children....what is it? 1st grade?

Anyway, I hope this helps a little, even though it isn't the greatest info, I always felt bad when I couldn't help someone I knew was getting kicked around....maybe it will be of some use to you.

Good luck with the new job hunt, hopefully you will get the other job. It sounds like this isn't a very nice place to work. Writing you up to protect other employees? Sounds like they are looking for an excuse to let you go.

I am so sorry Amanda. I can't beleive the HR department. You definatly need to get different employment and call the labor department. There is no reason for this kind of treatment to anybody!!!

Holy sh!t Amanda! I cannot believe that an HR professional would even use those words. Now its time to go big. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. They have basically refused to do an investigation. Here in Kentucky, we're an at will state also, but usually employers know enough to cover themselves against a lawsuit. Unfreaking believable!

Im sorry honey and I think you should keep praying for an oppurtunity and one will present itself and get you out of this situation. I'll keep you in my prayers as well.

No really, I am totally disgusted. I can't believe this is what they said to you. I agree with the others...seek employment elsewhere ASAP! Document EVERYTHING that happens from here on out. yeah, i called DOS this morning (couldn't call them before because it was the weekend) and they said he's still under AP. So all that excitement for nothing. i think i'm just gonna stop checking dhl if it's going to be nothing but false hope.

My husband emailed me a few pics of him at work He looks ...awesome! I just can't wait til he gets back to America!

I put in (then withdrew) my vacation request at work. I was going to take off the first week of Ramadan but I'm trying to save that vacation time for when Ibrahim comes home. It will be middle of Winter, nice time to stay in the house and reconnect.

Too soon to make those reconnecting plans~~ I have at least 4 more months to wait.

My girlfriend gets 5 weeks paid vacation a year Jax.

It is unbelievable! I get one week and not sure if it grows to 2 weeks after the first year.

I doubt it, no one can do my job here. I am the only one. Only the boss' wife.

I will be lucky to save up all my time, taking NOTHING, until the end of May next year to go to Maroc.

I am hitting them up for at least 8 days, if not 10. 10 would = 2 weeks but I can't see spending that kind of money and travelling that far for only one week.

In the meantime I can't get sick or take any personal days just to be able to do that.

That just isn't right.

She now works for Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania for the last 8 months.

She took a pay cut even from her last job as legal secretary and personal assistant to a Supreme Court Justice for the

Pennsylvania Supreme Court...she had a cush job and she worked her way up to that salary and vacation time, she worked with the gov't for 10 years (what a great deal) then she left with the Judge to a private practice when the Judge retired. She was there about 2 years till her new position.

I asked her if she got the 5 weeks because of what she had before she said nope, everyone gets it and you know what else??? she accrues 1/2 personal day every other week or something ridiculous like that. If she doesnt take them she can take the money OR they roll over.

That is great!! I also got a touch today!!!!! and its not from calling yesterday, that showed up early this am, and them this pm it changed to todays date. Hang on girl, something is coming for us!!!
