since your not happy with the current i would secure the new anway but i would get the last say in for the way they treat others. My building is same security, you have to check in wear a badge to get past the front door and be witha employee at all time BUT ahmed has never had any problems. Now at his own last job it was bad they did single him out to do the hardest and dirty jobs and when he left he did have a talk with HR as to why he was leaving, did it do any good? i doubt i so want to turn them in to someone because also probably half the people working there dont have work papers and work as temps. He was hired as a normal permanent worker and these temps with no papers had more rights.......he wants to just put it behind him but i want to speak up to help others that might follow him

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Thanks!

me TOO on the tingles part. I check that damned dhl website every day, always hope for some sort of change, but it still surprised me. i'm hoping they deliver it tomorrow, and that it's his visa, not some letter telling him they need further evidence or something. aaaaaah, the anticipation is making it hard to focus

that doesnt make sense, that would make all numbers unusable because 'after awhile it will say depart' when its still in there! and you said you called the dhl here and they said different? really makes no sense!

well, it looks like maybe no visa after all. ahmed called dhl and they said that his passport is still inside the embassy, that that message "Departed Facility" doesn't mean anything, it's just an update that they do. :( So disappointing.

Amy...my hubby's visa said the same thing on Aramex...it said "picked up" like 2 minutes after he left the embassy for his interview. I called Aramex and they told me it was still at the embassy...they had just entered the airbill so you can have the tracking number when they actually send it. It took about 5 days to get to us...after 2 days the status changed. Good luck to you!

Ok...update on the job situation. I had a meeting with HR a few minutes ago and expressed my concern with how I feel discriminated against...etc. Her response was "oh we are a private company and we reserve the right to allow who we want into the building...what you said was inflammatory whether they told exactly what you said or not, it still caused an issue. Being married to who you are married to, you know that you will face these kinds of obstacles. It is better that you socialize outside of work with co-workers and not mention any personal things at work. I understand that it seems unfair, but really it is a one time thing that is in your file about your behavior, not about who you are married to. If this incident wouldn't have happened I am sure it would have been ok to bring your husband in to work to meet everyone."

Being married to who I am married to? Come again?? Really? I am pissed beyond words right now. I, an American Christian woman, went to the middle east and got a much warmer, open, loving reception. I feel more loved in the middle east than I do in my own country. I mean really?? Tonight begins the serious search for another job.

*jaw dropped!*

HR flat out discriminated against both you and your husband!!

Yes, find a new job! I also think something needs to be done about what happened to you. Make a case of it, tell the labor union and lawyers exactly what was said. I am beyond appalled by their reaction. So sorry about all this unnecessary drama in your life!

*hugs*

holy canola oil!!!! Yeah totally seek out different employment and document well what she said to you as that was also discriminatory. As a place of employment to the public they are, in fact, discriminating against you and they honestly feel they have done nothing wrong. Go to the big big boss guys (whomsoever they may be) and file a complaint. I loved what nawal suggested! Don't take this lying down! Make sure they are never able to do this to another person! I'm so angry FOR you right now that I can barely see straight!!! The stupidity of people sometimes is just unnerving!!!!!!!
