When I call DOS, it gives me their hours of operation as 8:30am to 5pm, but doesn't tell me the time zone... anyone know?

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Hey Ladies...quick question.

Do any of you know if a social security card is automatically applied for after entering the US on a CR 1 visa. We went to the Social Security office to check for Raad's SS card and kind of got the run around...its not in the system, you need to check to see if they automatically apply for him...etc. I'm confused. I thought I read something about he should receive his green card & SS card in the mail within 21 working days...is that right???

Thanks ladies...hate to run, but today is my last vacation day before I have to go back to work!! :( I will hate to leave my habibi at home but at least I know he will be there when I get home!! :)

Amanda,

My husband came on a CR1 Visa and we had to physically go to our nearest office, fill out the paper (which can be downloaded online) and give his ID info...greencard and whatever else the directions ask for. It is very easy, it does not happen automatically. It also took his greencard 6 weeks to arrive.

Good Luck

August 25th @ 1PM hubby has his interview!!!!!!! The only problem is that I leave August 7th... and the other problem is my mandatory school orientation is August 10th and school starts the 31st... do i really have to be present at the interview? I would have to pay another plane ticket of 1200. is it worth it?

Great Kenza you have and interview date set.

Waleed and I are finishing putting together all our packet 3 but in our email they just say send it to them and I was wondering what address do we send it to?

And is the visa fee still a receipt of payment for the visa application ($131) from the Commercial International Bank (CIB) in Egypt or has the fee gone up since April 2008 for the interview?

And our address has changed to the one in Hurghada because he doesn't receive mail at the one we originally put. For some reason mail never makes it there. After visiting the area I can understand why however should we write some kind of letter to include in the packet with our Hurghada address so he may get his interview letter or ask them to continue to email us because we've never received mail at this address either and I'm not certain it would make it here. Or should we put the clinic he works at address for mail because after I leave he may go to sharing an apartment to save money before to come and the clinic would be more permanent and easier to find?

Wow, congrats Kenza....mashaAllah, I am so happy for you! What a quick turn around for an interview time. I know it will take for ever in Cairo for Ahmed. Anyhow, my understanding is that many people don't go to the interview with their SO. I don't know if that helps, but inshaAllah you will make the right decision for you and your hubby. Anyhow best wishes, habibtee!

Olivia, the time is coming fast for you. InshaAllah things will go very quickly for you two. Sounds like the best thing to do would be to give the clinic address. The changes in address may delay things, I just don't trust the Cairo emabassy. Anyhow, good luck hun....I know has got to be stressful.

Olivia,

The fee is still 131.00.

We changed Y's mailing address by emailing the consulate. I just shot them an email and asked that they change his mailing add in his file and we had sucess. I would probably use the clinic's address just to be on the safe side.

also email or call the consul and ask what address to mail the packet back to.

a BIG step closer for you guys....yaaaay

Kenza!! Thats wonderful! I wasnt at Y's interview and we had NO problems. Its a luxury to be able to attend with them and your consul might not even allow spouses to come in with the applicant. I wouldnt freak about it :D

Kenza!!!!!! YEAH!!! So happy for you honey!! InshaAllah, Beth's up next!!!

Jackie it's stinks, but like Olivia said....any chance of a visit?? Hugs to hon!

CONGRATS KENZA!!!! I got news my MENA ladies, I got a phone call from USCIS Washington, DC this morning. They are looking into why my RFE has not been processed, its been 30 days since they emailed me, but the lady wanted to know when I sent it, I told her May 19 and CSC signed for it May 20th, that got her interest. She also asked what I sent, and asked me to send it all to her, I think maybe CSC lost my evidence ????? So I sent her 37 pages all of it!!!!. LOL

So maybe something this week on my case.

Hope all is well, Amanda nice to see you again Sweetie, and to Jackie, Lisa, 100% Al Ahly Fan love you all, and thank you for all your support.

Now i see what has been going on. I am very very happy for you Beth... YAY ... hopefully you finally got ahold of someone who has a clue as to what they are doing....

Its been almost 3 weeks and no packet 3. I am wondering if the mail made it? Do you have to sign for the packet 3 when they send it? I emailed them last week and nothing yet, so I am thinkin of calling them tomorrow. All I want to know is can I go ahead and mail it out even if we haven't got the packet 3 yet? This is really getting annoying.
