Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

So I posted a topic looking to see if there was anyone else out there that was waiting for an interview date at the Amman embassy in Jordan. Someone posts that :

Before my husband was accepted for refugee, I had waited almost three months and still had no interview date. That was back in December. I think another girl on here waited a little less, like two months instead. The Amman embassy is always backed up and so getting an interview date takes longer. It is an improvement though. In 2007 you had to wait 8 months or more for an interview date.

Really? Do you have to give me depressing news? Why can't I hear something good?? Come on now...please.

Why did you ask the question? No one was giving you a straight answer so I was trying to be helpful. I had been through it just a few months ago so I thought I would be nice in telling you that. When I asked the same question last year people replied to me that I might have to wait 6 months or more. How do you think that made me feel when my husband and I hadn't seen each other in more than a year and I was living in constant terror of him being deported back to Iraq where he would have been killed for sure as he had death threats against him?

Because I was looking for people in a similar situation to compare notes, but I wasn't looking for depressing news....I've heard enough of it as it is...it just made me feel worse. I have been really sick the past few weeks and I just needed to hear something good not something depressing. I'm sorry....but as all of you know...waiting is super hard.

Amanda,

I talked to someone a while back and that was the trend (like a year ago)...waiting forever for a K or cr1 interview.. thats not the case any more, you can see from people who have just gone thru. about a month for k visas and 2 for immigrant visas.

Thank God the trends have sped up. But I remember what it was like when I was so hoping to get a March interview (and I even sent my travel itinerary with airfare reservation receipt to NVC with the IV packet and asked for a date in March) so I could go with my husband to the embassy. BTW, now I'm rather glad I didn't because from the time he went in the door and handed his medical and passport to the lady it took 4 hours until he met with the CO. He said he was ready to shout "what are you DOING???" LOL You should have your SO's eat before they go for sure :)

To you and I, 4 hours doesn't seem so bad to wait right since we've been waiting days and months for things to happen, but for him that 4 hours was wretched. So it's all about perspective

I was not trying to offend. I was just looking for more hopeful news. I see a lot of people on the INTERVIEW WAITING CLUB thread that are getting their interview dates already. When I call NVC, I keep getting rude operators with the same programmed response "we only schedule interviews the second week of the month...call back after May 15th." And when I told the operator yesterday that someone I know got an interview scheduled yesterday she got short with me and said "well there is no interview date for your case yet." I'm sorry if I upset anyone but I am just trying to get through this like everyone else. I do appreciate all the support and advice. I only said why did I have to hear something depressing....Again, I'm sorry.

Amanda
