~ Today is the fourth Sunday of my husband's death (F) On the 40th day (which I believe falls during Ramadan) the family will honor him by preparing a special dinner to share w/ friends and neighbors and read the Qur'an (L)

O subhanAllah ... I cannot even imagine what you are going throu now! Maybe as someone suggested the webcam to join in, might help with healing! Have you been keeping contact with his family? I pray Allah makes this pain ease up for you Henna! In my prayers, (((hugs))) Henia

I am so sorry Henna Rose. I know that this time has been one of the hardest times of your life.

Sometimes you just say to your husband in your heart I know " I would have loved you anyway... even if I knew what would happen."

These are the hidden treasures and mysteries of life how some people visit us and change our lives and are not here for a long time but change us forever

Hello MENA

~It's hard to believe as I write this, 1 year has passed since Lahcen's death (F) some of you were there for me on this day and supported me during the darkest days. Thank you again for your kindness and everything you have done. I had never expected to find such support and comfort from people I did not even know from all over the USA.

I have learned so much in this last year. I never knew love could hurt so much. Knowing my husband changed me and allowed me to see life with a new perspective. Loving him made me realize what is really important, things we take for granted and the stupid petty BS we let get to us at times. We have only now to enjoy our lives, our loved ones and make our dreams come true !

I wish our culture dealt with grief differently. Greece and other countries have arm bands to wear to signify their loss. It is a healthy process that is uniquely our own and we should not be expected to "get over it" so others will feel more comfortable. If I was wearing an arm band one day at Starbucks the barista would not have tried to chat me up until I went off on her. People in the supermarket would have understood why I looked right thru them with empty stares or burst out in tears for no apparent reason. Grief is an animal all it's own and made me into a person I did not recognize at times.

Healing is slow but sure and today I celebrate my husband's life and the short time we had together. I move forward with lessons learned from him and his culture. I cherish our memories and I know that he loved me (L)

I am thinking of everyone that has also lost loved ones and hope that you are able to find peace and healing. Your grief is your own process and experience, God bless you (F)

The first year anniversary without a loved one is very poignant in my experience....but yes, I understand how good it would be in our culture just to have an outward sign of grief, I really get that and more, from reading your post, thank you (F)

Girlie, I have been thinking of you today and have been sending thoughts of comfot your way. Grief IS an animal all its own and certainly will wash over you whether you like it or not. Tears have an amazing way of washing your soul, I think and clearing your heart and soul of pain and sorrow. I will soon be at the 3 year mark of losing my dear sweet father, this October. My tears have lessened and the pain doesn't hurt so much, but I know that I will miss him all the rest of my days. I do feel fortunate to have the wonderful memories of him and I hope that you as well can find comfort in the memories you and your husband made together.

(F) Love ya sister friend. I'm here if you need me...anytime.
