BERLIN - Two drunken British women went on a rampage on a charter plane, hitting one flight attendant with a bottle of vodka and trying to open a cabin door as the aircraft was cruising over Austria at 10,000 meters (32,800 feet), police said Saturday.

The staff on the flight from Greece to England eventually forced the women back to their seats and the pilot made an emergency in Frankfurt on Thursday, police told The Associated Press, confirming a statement they had issued on Friday.

The identities of the women, aged 26 and 27, were not released, but police said the 26-year-old may be charged with attempted assault and interfering with air traffic.

Both women were released, police said.

The rampage occurred when a flight attendant denied the women alcohol because they were visibly intoxicated, police said. The 26-year-old took a swipe at a cabin attendant with a bottle of vodka, then attempted to open a cabin door.

"Apparently the 26-year-old wanted to catch some fresh air," the statement said, in an effort to make light of the altercation.

The two women were taken into custody by police at the Frankfurt airport and given a breathalyzer test. Both were legally intoxicated.

After an hour in Frankfurt, the flight continued on to Manchester, England.

If you read the article, women from France, the UK, and Italy were exempted, stating they were not "High-quality."

One flight I had to Jordan stopped over in Paris where we picked up this really drunk pair of Jordanians. The one guy got so beligerant they didn't let him board the plane at CdG. He was screaming and trying to toss the ropes around, etc, saying things like "You're not my mother!!" and other things in a mix of Arabic, French, and English. The other guy happened to be my row-mate which sucked-- for 5 hours he endlessly prattled on about Islam and kept drinking the whole way back telling me what a good, religious guy he was. Then, he sprayed like 2 squirts of a breath spray in his mouth and said he was off to see his wife. Nice!

That was about as good as the guy I had on the way back from Amman whose name was "Yakov" and was like 80 years old, Russian, Jewish, and was telling me about his trip to Israel and how much he hated Arabs and people who knew Arabs and how he himself knew an Arab who was good, but that didn't count... and he kept saying "Cognac??" after every point he made and took a drink, filled his customs forms out in my lap, and kept violently shaking the seat of the poor person in front of me saying "give her some room you a$$hole!" (then looked at me saying, "cognac?" He also spent about 8 hours of the flight telling me he hated people who put their seats back in your space because you paid for it, but that whole time he was about 1/2 in my seat itself. I would close my eyes and he kept asking me if I was trying to sleep and shaking me. I asked to move, but no other seats :(

I am surprised I wasn't on this flight!

Oh sh!t Julianna! That sucks!

I must admit, I had a laugh when I read your post (due to your good writing skills), but it's surely not fun when you are in that situation.

I am just over long distance flights in general. I don't think I will ever go to see my friends in Australia again, I just can't be arsed to do more than 10 hrs. on a plane anymore.

I've noticed I adapted to European flights of 7-8 hours, but if I flew direct from Chicago to Amman (which I would do any day over stopping, especially at CdG where they put all ME flights in like the "backyard shed" terminal equivilent with limited heating or cooling and probably hope to basically make your stay as unpleasant as possible with the most pissed-off airport workers possible... like we all have kooties or some kind of childhood fake illness we accuse boys of having when we're 6!) at about hour 8 I think to myself, OK, this flight is over! I check the watch and have this terrible realization I have four more hours. Somehow four is worse than say, 3 or 2 where you can feel you're counting your way down towards something. Four means you've only gone through 2/3 of your flight and now that you've done just about everything you can to not kill your neighbor (who has layed down across all 4 of the other seats in your middle row and is kicking you with his bare feet) and ignore all the kids with crayons up their noses.... you still have four. more. hours. I actually cannot wait for the next time I do this to be with Ammar because at least I'll have company!

I can totally get why you're considering never doing that again :)

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.
