Greetings to all of you who miss your wife desperately and hope for a speedy visa approva.

My wife and I were married in the Philappines on May 2 and have hired an immigration attorney to process all of our paperwork.

I am back in the states now after having spend 1 month with her over there. I miss her desperately!!!

My question is for those who also have a wife in the Philappines:

1. How long did it take you to complete your visa and get approval from the date the paperwork was submitted?

2. What were the problems you encounterd, if any, and how long did they delay you approval.

3. How did you keep from going out of your mind longing to be with your new bride.

Thanks for any encouragement.

Rob

Hi Rob!

Q- 1. How long did it take you to complete your visa and get approval from the date the paperwork was submitted?

A - It took us almost a year. We got married Dec 2003 and started filing for petition (I-130 & I-129) and I got my K3 visa Dec 2004.

Q- 2. What were the problems you encounterd, if any, and how long did they delay you approval.

A - We really didn't had any problems encountered... it's just the waiting game I guess. Well, there's one and that's the fees, it's not easy I guess for us to come up with money right away to pay the fees, we had to borrow from his parents first. Oh, I guess going to St. Luke's for my medical exams and the long line at the US Embassy for my interview. The lines are always long so she should be there way early, just a reminder. I always had to be there (St. Luke's and the US Embassy) at around 5am and there's already a long line ahead of me, and it's first come, first serve basis.. they'll be giving numbers out. So if she wants to finish up early, be there way early.

Q- 3. How did you keep from going out of your mind longing to be with your new bride.

A - It was tough and hard for us, too. You just have to be tough and hang in there. Just think that all the wait will be worthwhile. And try to live each day one day at a time. You'll see that time will fly by and the next thing you'll know is that it's time to be with her again.

I hope your papers get processed fast. Goodluck on your papers and congratulations on your wedding.

Christine

Hi Rob,

Hope these help:

1. How long did it take you to complete your visa and get approval from the date the paperwork was submitted?

For our K3, we filed our I-130 and I-129F on 11/2005 and got the K3 visa just recently, 5/19/2006, so I would say about 6 months. When we started, the wait time for Manila embassy from the date they receive the case until the actual interview was 6 months, but by the time it actually got to us, we only had to wait for 4 months... I heard that it could even be less than that, so maybe you'll be luckier :D You can check out my timeline below.

2. What were the problems you encounterd, if any, and how long did they delay you approval.

We were blessed to have not encountered issues during the process. I've read, however, that some people get delayed because of missing documents, late registration on birth certificates, and CENOMAR checks.

3. How did you keep from going out of your mind longing to be with your new bride.

In my case, I was the one here in the US and my hubby was in the Phils. Anyway, we just talked on the phone almost every minute (since we use Vonage, it was really inexpensive) and just prayed that the process will go smoothly for us to be together again. It was really tough, I tell you! But we managed, and I know that you guys will too.

Goodluck on your journey and keep us posted  Congratulations on the wedding!
