I have been researching this issue and as far as I can understand, religious/philosophical exemptions to vaccines are valid within particular states in the US, but outside the US there seems to be no provision for exemptions on religious or philosophical grounds. I recently spoke to Dr. Sherri Tenpenny (one of the biggest proponents and researchers of consumers' rights to say no to US vaccines) she mentioned that she has only recently become aware of the situation with vaccines for immigration purposes. She also thinks there are no waivers or exemptions available right now for vaccines administered outside the US borders, but this could change.

Sorry I can't be of help... :(

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

CRBA filed 1-3-13 at Seoul for our daughter

I just realized, if you're doing a K visa, your vaccinations are administered in the US, right? If so, check out this map and the info below to see if your state offers a medical/philosophical/religious exemption to the vaccine and how you can go about seeking that exemption. Good luck!

Hmm but does USCIS recognize the individual states requirements? I'm in California so its looking positive at least. I've also noted that its possible to be allergic to some of the ingrediants and the makers and the FDA say not to get the vaccination if you are....

if you are k1 like us and we are in california too. i think you have to have the vaccinations for aos in usa not neccersarly for the visa interview. somebody please correct me if i'm wrong. i'm gunna wait for usa if i can (assuming this is right, cos its cheaper) i think if this is true you only need the first one of the three to start aos. I'm doing this because its significantly cheaper per shot over there.

to get out of it...... will your fiance be 27 at time of AOS? if so i believe she is exempt.

other than that someone was trying to convince everyone in uk forum to do a waiver and be exempt (on moral or spritual beliefs), but they said it costs to file the waiver and also extra two or three months on the process i can't remember. I would verify everything posted though yourself before hand though.

Just wondering why she wants to opt out of this? Is there a religious reason? As far harsh reactions...I give these shots to people all day long and I have yet to see a harsh reaction. Not trying to argue, just thinking maybe I could be of some help in explaining the risks and benefits, and that might help you to decide if it is worth a battle and possibly more time apart.

Basically the effectiveness drops to near zero if your already active (her GP says as does most of the medical field). We see no point in spending money on something that is worthless, has an unknown length of effectiveness and there is no knowledge of long term effects. This is a drug that is mandatory mainly thanks to a strong lobby.

In terms of cost the religious/ moral route the cost is more i realise now. So unless her doctor can write to the effect that she is allergic to an ingredient I suppose she'll probably have to take the first course and forget about 2 and 3.

Also there is no more time apart, she can evoke her right to wait until AOS to get it.

Google HPV Vaccine and read about the "reactions". I am not an alarmist, but I too would have reservations after reading these articles and watching the news. Never hurts to be informed.

i understand lancer, it sucks and is stupid to be mandatory, for such a late age range.

Most of the allergy people have to vaccines is due to the eggs the virus is grown in. So people with egg allergies need to question if egg was used in the processing. Most vaccines are actually dead virus, thus the switch from oral polio vacc to injected, the oral contained live (although weakened) virus and there was a much greater risk to people than with use of the dead virus in the injected form.

We don't see the diseases the vaccines protect against due to herd immunity, almost everyone was vaccinated therefore almost everyone is immune. So it does not mean much to us in the developed world, we have never had a loved one die from measles, or lost a baby to whooping cough, and how much tetanus (lockjaw) do you run across nowadays? I'm a nurse for a group of pediatricians and deal with vaccines every day. I was tested after my first round of Hep B shots and I was not immune, so I had a fourth, and I am now immune to Hepatitis B. As well as my immunity to measle, mumps, rubella, pertussis, diptheria, tetanus, varicella the list goes on. Vaccines do promote immunity.

As far as reactions, there are definately risks. HPV hurts going in and your arm is usually red and sore for a few days. Most of the teenage girls that come in for them, tell us that each one hurts more than the last. There are also risks of more severe reactions. I believe in people making informed decisions, so along with the googling of HPV vaccs, google cervical cancer and read some of the stories of the long painful death of so many women.

Not all doctors say the effectiveness drops to zero if you are sexually active. I personally know quite a few docs that would disagree with that. It is true though that the earlier you get it, the more effective it is, the more time your body has to build immunity before exposure, the better. It is also true that it only protects against some strains of the human papilloma virus not all of them.

Having said all that, I would be very upset if I did not want to get vaccinated and I were being forced. I think it should be the choice of the individual.

thanks for that, i dont need to google cancer i've seen its affects many times in familly although not cervical, my issue is that the life span of immunity and that for what it costs it only covers four strains to add to which and lets face it this is true, the virus is not the only cause of cervical cancer therefore its a vaccine against four possible causes out of god knows how many. and what about if you have already been expossed to the virus? i'm much more a fan of the cervical smears, and i'm not too fond of having those done. but at least it gives you a heads up on all fronts. theres no way in hell i'm getting these jabs done and thinking thats me safe for life. the only reason i'm getting these done is cos i love this man to death and i would take a bullet for him so why not a jab, which with my phobia its allmost equviallant it feels at times. and i dont want an extra three months wait to start my life with him, we are waitng enough time allready. i'm not into the scar mongering i was around for the mmr autisim hooplar and i have TWO shots in two years at 11yrs and 12 (mums mess up, i did try to tell her) and i'm still alive i just wanted to know what possibles like the eggs as you say which was news to me thank you cos i have quite promanant exema and i'm not sure of what it is i'm allergic to that is causing it. but thanks.

You are absolutely right about the smears, thay are so much more inportant than the vaccine. Noone should get the vaccine and think they are all set, they are not. It does help with 4 strains, and counting out 4 is better than counting out none if your likely to suffer only a sore arm.

Here is what the CDC has to say. They dictate to the USCIS what vaccinations are required for immigrants. If you're coming on a K visa you can delay until you're ready to file AOS, and see if any of the requirements have been changed, or what the updated post marketing data indicates. If you're still unsure about the vaccine, discuss it with the civil surgeon and file a waiver along with your AOS.
