Had to go on a quick trip to NYC on short notice for a meeting on Friday - what a muthafcuking disaster. It took me 12 hours solid to get from Tampa to NYC. On the way back I got lucky - Delta managed to cut the total travel time down to 9 hours on that one. Non-stop flights, mind you. A co-worker of mine was en route for 14 hours going from Tampa to NYC on Thursday. Also on Delta. Cancellations and delays all over the place. They're unable to park a plane properly at a gate in NYC. No kidding, they took almost an hour to park the plane at the gate and hook the gangway up to it. After two canceled flights and hours of delays on the flight we finally traveled on, that was just the icing on the cake.

####### is the matter with this freaking airline? Can't they just go the ** out of business and make room for better carriers?

#######? FWIW my husband also had a cancellation coming from Santa Ana (i think) to Denver Thursday on Delta.

Song was the best though - to bad it was re-absorbed.

Oh no...don't say this  .

I have enough Delta miles to get a free trip from Orlando to NY plus 1/2 of my husband's trip - so we're going to fly with them. Oh well.

Next time we go it'll be to see my new niece/nephew so I guess it's worth it in the end.

The other week I had one of those trips. Outbound I got stuck in PHX after over an hour on the runway in a plane with no AC they went back to the gate and let us off. My 3:15 flight finially left at 6:30 after the storm passed. One the way home they pull away from the gate and taxi around and figure out that they only have one working engine . I am glad they found out before takeoff . Makes you wonder what a check engine light looks like for a plane. So back to the terminal while we wait for them to find a working plane .

For Reinhard: was the aircraft used for the flight a Connie ("super-constellation"), dakota (DC-3) or similar? In such case, a travel time of 12 hr would be acceptable, indeed par-for-course.

(btw, an answer containing "the bucket used could as well have been" is not acceptable). ;)

(and Reinhard has been known to use "the bucket" as a term for an aircraft in disrepair)
