Some people meet on-line years before they meet in person...others meet and never spend a second apart....have you spend more time together or apart from your SO?

I've known him a bit over 6 years, been together for about 5, of that 6 years we lived apart for a bit more than 2 years and together for not quite 4.

While we were dating, we spent more physical time apart but everyday online. I knew him 8 months online before I got the courage up to fly there to meet him face to face, which is when we officially became a couple. After that began the back and forth thing. The longest we spent apart was what we refer to as "the five month stretch"...not our favourite to be sure. Anywho, we just celebrated our second wedding anniversary and our fourth anniversary of being together. It's been a wild ride!

Apart - even after he moved here he was on the road 2-3 weeks out of the month. Now he is home all the time and we miss the space

We've been together since Nov '04 and have spent more than 2 years physically together so now it's been more time together than apart (thank God). We started out in the same country, then were separated while deciding where to live, and then once we made that decision, we had to wait for immigration to process/approve everything.

The longest time we ever were apart was for 8 months - that was bad....but well worth the wait

It's been 50/50 for the past 4 years due to job constraints. I was promised a full-time position in Phnom Penh from my employer in her country, but with the economy being as it is, things just haven't happened as we'd hoped and I still have to work in the US for 4-6 months per year. I've managed more time at home in Phnom Penh with my wife since our son was born, but still not nearly enough, so we're working on getting her visa.

If given the choice, we'd both prefer to reside full-time in her native Cambodia. There's a lot to be said for having a huge, supportive extended family when you have a child together and we'll miss that while we live in the US.
