does anyone know if an american citizen needs a visa for bulgaria?

im going to romania this summer and i wanted to go to bulgaria too to the seaside...i have a romanian passport so i can go there no problem, but my son has an american passport, and i dont know what he needs to to to bulgaria....anyone who's been there...american citizens...help please?!? :)

Entry requirements for Americans: Citizens of the USA do not need a visa to visit Bulgaria. For what length of stay, I'm not sure. It's either 30 or 90 days.

It should be fine. He can stay up to 90 days in a 6 month period.

This is the official link of the US Dept. of State about Bulgaria, it contains all the info you might need, btw I am quoting this to answer your question more quickly

ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: A United States passport is required for U.S. citizens who are not also Bulgarian nationals. As of September 1, 2006, U.S. citizens who enter the country without a Bulgarian visa are authorized to stay for a total of 90 days within a six-month period.

ETA for future reference, in case you might need info for somewhere else, there is a page for every country on this website.

28th july 2007 - N-400 mailed to VSC

(exactly on the 90th day mark...applications NOT returned although some scared me into thinking they could have!)

30th july 2007 - N-400 delivered to VSC

11th august 2007 - Delivery Confirmation receipt received

17th september 2007 - Money Order (FINALLY!) cashed

9th november 2007 - NOA! (notification period given 180 days)

21th november 2007 - Biometrics appointment letter

18th december 2007 - Biometrics appointment in Baltimore, MD completed

29th march 2008 - FINALLY received letter with interview date!

8th may 2008 H 8:40 AM - Interview in Baltimore-APPROVED!

8th may 2008 H 3:00 pm (yes same day, crazy!) Oath Ceremony in Baltimore

24th may 2008 - US Passport application mailed off

6th june 2008 - US Passport received in the mail!!!
