Sorry but tht was a really weird post and did not help at all in your argument. You seem like you are rationalizing the hitting and that is sad. ALthough multiple wives were in Bible, it does not mean it was condoned by God...Americans dont "prefer extramarital affairs" but it happens. I'd rather it be that way than be the one to allow my husband to have relations with anohter when I know about it. The latter is more of a fall from grace whereas the previous is an allowance and acceptance of it...anyway or either way it is disgusting. I dont know what your deal is you showcase ur relgion in your signature and now complain.

I see, so righteous men in the bible did things that God did NOT condone..... OK.

I'm explaining what I understand it to mean.

I don't put myself above God to make up my own laws to live by judging by what I prefer or not as I am a human being who is incapable of seeing the bigger picture. God made the laws as He saw fit.

I find American culture of sex, drugs, drinking, stealing and killing to be disgusting.... much more so than a man having more than one wife.

I'm muslim.... the fact that I am doesn't mean I have to be happy when I see my religion forever trash-talked on this forum.

I've found that there is sex, drugs, drinking, stealing and killing in the middle east too, or at least the four muslim countries I've been to. For that matter, I believe those things are in every country on earth. One country hiding its sins better than another doesn't mean its a better country. Don't even let us get started on the exploits of the Saudi Royal family and their exploits and they are supposed to be from the most holy place in Islam of all. All countries have their good and their bad. I try to see both. Yet, I also thank God I am an American and a muslim.

I agree no one is perfect.... everyone sins but it's American culture to do these disgusting things and it's accepted and in most cases legal. At least in true muslim countries it's not allowed and those who do it have to hide it. They can come to America and do it in the freaking streets with praise from the public audience!

It's from Islam to hide your sins and not expose what Allah has hidden for you.

Speaking of corrupted muslim countries..... why do you suppose they are so corrupted today? Because of American influence..... they see our movies and TV shows and want to follow the American dream of being as trashy as you can possibly be n'autho billah!

But with all this, Islam is bad because it allows more than one wife! Pfft! Whatever.

Hi all,

I don't see anyone saying Islam is bad...just people asking questions to understand something that is not the norm for them so they have assumptions or are misled by media. I understand your frustration level at people not understanding but isn't our role as Muslims to have a level of compassion, understanding and help educate those that have questions or have ignorant thoughts about our religion? Getting angry as many of us have done only adds to the "image" that Americans and other nations have of us. It's not just America that has these thoughts about Muslims. As for the thought that America has corrupted Muslim countries...hmmm...we are a pretty young country to have done that...not around long enough. I am an American Muslim but I have grown up summers in a Muslim country and witnessed first hand affairs, drugs, and many other things that we claim are only accepted or originated in the US...except they do exist and are in Muslim homes overseas as well...just not spoken of...pregnancies...perhaps not teens having babies but abortions and sexually transmitted diseases are all over. Unfortunately they are not tracked because many of these countries deny they exist. I am NOT supporting what happens here in America or any other country and I'm just as frustrated but many other Americans think as I do and have morals and grew up in homes where values and religion were the backbone of our families.

I hope we can all agree to disagree on some things and also open ourselves to help educate those that are misled by the media.

Why would that start a fight?

Because it is regarding Islam.

We are going to have to agree to disagree about affairs in the west because clearly neither one of us are going to change our POV! :star:

I have no problems with agreeing to disagree... what I have issue with is the idea that it's OK to talk trash about Islam or its laws are on here all the time and muslims on the board who are repeatedly offended by these remarks are always expected to suck it up and get over it.

It's more bothersome that so many of the ones making these comments are married to muslims but to each their own.

I don't need a visa.... I am a citizen.

I am not free to leave..... since you don't know me or my situation you are welcome to keep your opinons to yourself.

I usually do, but your statements of how awful America is I had to say something, I am the first one to point out our countries faults, but to say that the Middle East is so much better is really a little far fetched. You just seem so unhappy with the country, with all the freedoms we have, but with freedom comes things we see we don't always agree on, but that is the beauty of America at least we can say what we feel without worrying about being arrested, oh well, at least we used to. If America is such a awful country why do they all want to come here?

IMO, muslim countries ARE much better because they have values that the US doesn't. I don't agree with all the fake "freedoms" in America.

You don't really think everyone wants to come to the US because it's such a great, safe place to raise their children? Or because there are so many spiritual advantages to living here? The only reason most ppl come to this country is to make money and go back home

Every country has corruption but even the most corrupted muslim country in the world is better a thousand times than the US.... it's not accurate or fair at all to say that muslim countries are just as bad as the US because, if that was true, they would also have an epidemic of unwed teenage mothers like we have here.... or strung out druggies on street corners.... or 16,000+ deaths each year due to drunk driving. Disgusting....

Than if you feel so much hate towards America, why bother getting a visa? I am just don't have words, I guess you agree with stoning as a way of dealing with sin. If you have an unwed mother in some of these countries you won't hear about it, or you see her being stoned to death. If you hate America you are free to leave at any time, and go to a place you will be happier.

alright, who are you and what did you do with ganja girl?

I don't know your situation, but unless you are imprisoned, you are free to leave. Furthermore, you can renounce your US citizenship at any time. It can be done.

If you'd like to do it, you can make it happen. Good luck!

Some people are parents here with shared custody. Free to leave is a loose term.

I can assure you that as soon as I'm "free to leave" this place will be a distant memory. :)

You are in for a surprise, VP. I worked with family law jurists in the Muslim world for 22 years. It's no bed of roses there either.

It'll be better than here.... probably not perfect but better than here nonetheless. I can't wait to move to Libya.... or Saudia if that becomes a possibility.

One of my best childhood friends Dad lives in Libya while her Mom has lived here for many years. Her parents remained married to this day but live in seperate countries. I always wondered how that worked and if he had another wife and kids in Libya. Her Mom goes back to visit about once a year for several months but she refuses to move back to Libya. Her family are refugees from Bosnia so I wonder how he ended up in Libya.
