I'm just curious..

How many people send money to there spouse and if you do why? What do they use it for?

The reason I ask is I offered to send my wife some money, she told me not to; and said "I have a job I don't need anything now."

I send money to my wife but it was hard to convince her to let me. After many fee's to western union and money gram I opened a second bank account and sent her the atm card...now I just transfer money from one account to the other and pay no fee's.

As for why I send money, Its the man's responsibility to support his family.

My husband sends me a little bit of money every 2 weeks or so. The primary reason we do it is to have the receipts as one more bit of evidence of an ongoing relationship come interview time. I wouldn't say I 'need' it really, as I work and can pay my own bills. But he makes more than I do while his living expenses are lower, so it doesn't hurt him any and it just makes my life more comfortable.

I have offered my wife money to help with things many times but I get that same type of response. She tells me to save it to buy a house so that's what I do. She actually makes more then I do but my cost of living is much lower then hers but she just continually refuses. She tries to pay for everything when I visit her as well but I won't let her. Its not only that I feel its my duty to take care of her and provide for her but its also damned embarrassing to have my wife paying for me. Even if it is something little. :/ I think a lot of it is related to culture as well, at least in my wife's case.

I've sent my husband money once and he didn't take to it so well. He let it sit in money gram for quite a while.... I think he still has it socked away. I sent it cause at the time he jus moved to another country (while waiting to get his visa here) and they pay once a month and started working them 3 weeks after they arrived. He pays to see me on the internet at a cyber cafe' and calls me when we can't see.

I guess you can say me sending money was for selfish reasons to make sure he could still see and talk to me...lol

My fiancé sent me money once when I was seriously broke (lost my job) and so it's kind of reversed as the US citizen is the one usually sending the money. I told him not to but he insisted and it helped a lot.

Another time, I sent him money for his birthday bc it was more expensive to buy what I wanted to get him and ship it so he just used the money I sent him to buy it (a new cell phone cause his broke). He bought me things for my birthday/Christmas etc, but there are such tight regulations on what you can send from Peru that he just held it for me till I got there, and sent me a cute card to hold me over.

He works, I work. There's really no need to send money but when the interview rolls around I might have to help him out a slight bit. He doesn't think so , but he also is stubborn so we'll see.

absolutely nothing wrong in exchanging money, no matter how much or how much more the other person is making...marriage is about "co-mingling" of everything...just as our great USCIS says...

It is good to have a bank account with your spouses name on it even if you don't use it that often. I sometimes send my wife money to help her visit her parents and I just sent her some so she could pray at a special shrine that is some distance away. She works and doesn't often ask for money but I do my best to help on the rare occasions she does.

Unlike my ex-wife who spent money like it grew on trees.

she can save the money to the bank and make it as an evidence also when she had her interview in the embassy.

also, the reciepts can be very useful for you to prove that you are sending her money for her to buy what she wants.

My fiancee's mother just sent me some money, actually.

I am completely broke. I just got back to the UK after visiting him, to work... well the money I'm making isn't enough to cover all the rent I need to pay PLUS sending the I-129F. So she sent me some money through Western union to cover food and travel for the next week, because as she said I'm family. :)

Plus it was sent by my fiancee officially, so we have a receipt with our names on it for evidence!

I have helped my husband's family on occasion for emergencies- he is a student and it is very difficult to find work in his country. I am also going to help him to get internet access so he doesn't need to go to cybercafes every day. I have sent using WU but I got an extra Paypal debit card with his name on it that I will send - I think in the future this will be cheaper than WU.

Nita

Nita how did you manage that??? I asked my bank and they said they couldn't do it?

Also, I worry about him sending money cause apparently there have been cases of men in Morocco who have paid women in the U.S. to marry them. I don't want that to seem like it so he does not and will not send me money based on my thoughts.. besides I don't need it. I have a good job and I told him we need to save for our future.
