Hi all!

I got my conditional Green Card in September 2007 through marriage. My wife is a US citizen. When we got married, she wasn't sure about changing her name, so when we applied for AOS a few months later, she was still using her maiden name. She has recently decided that life would be a little easier if we both had the same name, so she has initiated the process of changing her name (taking my family name). She has already been to the Social Security Office and our local DMV, but we have no idea how to go about notifying USCIS. We don't even know if we need to. We've called the customer service number, but they were no help. I've been reading about all the different things that can go wrong with the I-751 process, so I certainly don't want to risk any additional hassle for a perfectly legit but unreported name change.

I would really appreciate any insights you can offer.

Best, piggaloo
