Just wanted to stick my head in here and say hi. My hubby is from Houston and I'm a sista from Australia. Yes, laugh if you will - I know I look like a white woman in my pic ..... lol. I have always identified as a black woman and I guess it really hit me during my visits to the states when people were looking at me crazy. I have no idea of what background people thought I came from but I soon realised the majority didn't even realise Australia has a black history. I didn't know whether to find it annoying or fascinating - I suppose I was mostly surprised!

Anyway. I was only saying to my husband today how it would be nice to meet up others who have gone through this process, particularly those close in Houston. I had a chance to check out the city and schools etc. during my time there. (Hubby proposed on bended knee in Galveston) I loved the place! I'm in Cairns, North Queensland which is the Aussie tropics so I love the humidity. I don't know how on earth I'm going to drive down those damn freeways on the wrong side of the road, sitting in the wrong side of the car.......but I'll find my way!!!

well.....enough ramble from me. I would love to stay in touch with people who have been through this process as I think only those couples and families who have been through it, fully understand and appreciate what it took to be with the one you love.

Cheers.
