Hi all,

I would really like to have your suggestions. I cant believe i made this mistake but i misunderstood the directions and i thought i was only suppose to mail in the translated marriage certificate. I didnt send the copy of the original marriage certificate that is in Urdu language. I only now realize this because my cousin got an RFE on this case for the same thing today because he didnt send it either.

I called VSC about it and the lady said that they get tons and tons of mail everyday and if i send it now, it will probably get lost and not put in my file. She said to wait until I get an RFE for it. Should i listen to her and wait till i get an RFE? Or should i go ahead and send it in myself right now?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

thanks all!

We sent in the wrong title on the cheques and it was easier to wait for them to return the package to us so we could resend, than to send in new cheques and HOPE they matched them.

I would wait for them to request the additional information. I know it is a waste of time but at least you can keep your paperwork together.

We got a RFE for it. Better wait for the RFE, I doubt they will pair the marriage cert to your file considering how they work.

choochoo, first of all when you send in a mail you always refer your case number with it...this is the reason why you add a cover letter so your papers are matched to the correct file...so the issue is not "tons and tons" of mail...thats their job to sort out mail and to match it with the correct file..thats why u pay them the $355, part of which i assume goes to file maintainance and mail sorting folks...

as far as ur concern about the original marriage certificate, i feel that u might get a RFE..BUT u may just get lucky and no one will ever ask for it...did u get a religious certificate also? did u send that in?? did u send other supporting documents? from what i have read somewhere, if the adjudicating officer finds lack of paperwork, he tries to analyze the file and see if supporting documents can fill in..dont forget, they dont send RFEs for fun...they only send them if they really really need to and if there is no way out...there is cost and time associated with it...each adjudicating officer needs to report the number of cases they reviewed and approved, so on and so forth...i guess thats their review of how well a job they are doing...

in any case, i would wait and see if u get a RFE and only then send out the certificate...dont worry, ull b fine as RFE responses r usually quick if u r proactive and provide the requested documents promptly...Good Luck!!

cmnb choochoo would need to send in the urdu marriage certificate as it is the sole proof of a registered marriage in Pakistan. What others have written though about the RFE sound logical and I believe that person she spoke to at VSC has only tried to avoid work. choochoo can you try calculating the time your cousin filed and the time he got the RFE...maybe that can help you calculate yours too if you both have applied at the same service center. If not then you should call in some other time and speak to someone else or a supervisor. two people at the same office will give you different opinions...its so crazy but inshaAllaah don't worry.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions! I think I might just wait until i get the RFE to send it in.

I did that too choochoo. I sent in a really good copy of the original (because I am so sentimental and did not want to loose my original in arabic) along with the translated copy. Everything passed thru CSC USCIS but at NVC they made me send in the original :(. It really did not delay anything much. I sent the original by esxpress mail and within 1-2 weeks we got our interview date in Morocco. No Worries
