Hi all,

My cousin that filed for his wife back in Feb at VSC received an RFE because they want the Urdu marriage certificate. I think the instructions online said they just want the english translation, isnt it? I just kind of wanted to know what other people did because even I didnt send the Urdu marriage certificate in for my case. I just was wondering if this is common or not.

Thanks all

Hello,

I believe you need to send the original marriage certificate along with the translation. That would make the most sense. this is what I did.

Here is what you need to have:

1) Copy of original marriage certificate

2) Translation page

3) Translator stamp on translation page attesting the translation is accurate to the original

Yes, I sent my original marriage certificate in English and Urdu to NVC. Also, original birth certificate in English and Urdu. If you don't want to waste time, just send everything original.

Hi choochoo,

I dont know what i was thinking when i sent my packet in. I completely misunderstood it. I thought it only wanted the english translation. Well I called VSC and asked them if i should send it right now or not. They told me that if you send it now then it just might get lost somewhere and not get put with my file. Because they get tons and tons of mail every day. She said its better to just send it when they send me an RFE for it. What do you guys suggest?

I would suggest to wait as she said. When you get the RFE letter.......make sure to make copies of that as well for your own records. When I was at uscis we got an rfe as well, so from experience that is what I did..... waited. Because if I remember, you have to send in the letter that they send you .....back in with the evidence needed to finish processing your case.

Somebody else may have better suggestion.....:)

you can send your RFE required documents as long you have a copy of a letter you received earlier that has the barcode with your case number. You should check James shorcut which helps alot in this kind of situation
