Hello Everyone,

I'm married to a Brazilian. Since this K-3 (I-130) process is taking forever, and a lady at the VSC told me they'll look at it in 11 months (They received it March 6th, 2008.) Can my wife get a tourist visa and travel here while my application is rotting there?

She can try to get one but the CO may deny it. Many people travel to the US with tourist visas and go back for their immigrant visa interviews.

Mark,

Unfortunately, your wife will probably get denied for a tourist visa. The Embassy will have knowlege that you have already filed for your wife. The CO will feel like if your wife gets a visa to the US, she will not return to Brazil. That's just my take on things.

This process is not easy. Hang in there.

This is true. Try to do some searches on K3 visa petitions going to the Vermont Service Center and see how long it has taken them to be approved. I think for now it's about 6 months or so, so you may have about 1 month or so left to get approval. That's not much, I don't think.
