My SO will be purchasing a one-way ticket from Cairo to JFK shortly on Egypt Air... no problem there. He will fly on Jet Blue the rest of the way. Jet Blue doesn't have a ticket office in Egypt. I was going to purchase the ticket for him online (since he doesn't have a credit card that he can buy it on from Egypt) and then he can print out the electronic ticket to use when he gets to JFK.

I have called Jet Blue to see if this is permissible (one person purchasing a ticket for another person who is out of the country) and the ticket agent didn't seem to really know or understand what I was asking...

When my ex was coming home from Paris in 2005 (after having had his wallet stolen and all his ID) I tried to purchase the ticket for him with my credit card and they wouldn't let me do it. They said only the person travelling could purchase the ticket, or at least he would have to show the ticket agent the credit card at check in...

Anyone know if they wouldn't let me do it before because it was an international flight? My SO thinks he's going to buy a ticket at the counter at JFK and I'm thinking NO WAY is that a good idea!

Thanks in advance for feedback.

When my fiancee was getting ready to come to USA, I had her arrange a flight with an airline/travel agent in her country. Then I arranged to have it paid with my credit card. I just needed to alert my credit card company that I had authorized this expenditure before it was charged. It was no problem.

Go to a travel agent here and pay by cheque or cash, have the agent send you and your fiance the conformation with itinerary and e ticket receipt.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I did for my hubby and it didn't seem to be a problem. In fact he flew Jet Blue from JFK to here.

Maybe because we have the same last name.

Hi Karamella,

You must be so excited making all these preparations!

i purchased the ticket for my husband here online, everything in his name, with itineraries and confirmations being sent to his e-mail account. i paid with my credit card. we had no problems... it was with Royal Air Maroc though, maybe Jet Blue is different?

I've bought lots of domestic tickets for friends or family over the years and have never had a problem. If he has the e-ticket in hand, there shouldn;t be a problem. Maybe call jet blue and get a supervisor in the phone of the agent doesn;t understand?

It's possible to do that.

You have just to call, tell i want a ticket from.... to..... , date, name of the benefiary.... And you pay with your credit card. But if you seem a little hesitant (doubt) the agent can have doubts, because they can't understand your hesitations.

There are a lot of people doing that in all the world. I don't think that an airline company will refuse payment from people who haven't the same name.

I already did that with no problem.

Good luck

Paying the ticket shouldn't be a prob, when your S.O goes to the ticket counter to check-in @ the airport they will ask to see his passport

just to check if the names match and he'll be fine. The both of you must be really excited to be reunited with each other. :D

We did exactly this. My husband bought his one-way ticket from Casa to JFK. I bought the ticket from JFK to here online. He printed the e-ticket, and everything went smoothly. Now...I don't remember anything about him showing a credit card. He wouldn't have had it unless I sent it to him, and I'm sure I didn't do that! I'll look back and see if I have any correspondence about it.

ETA we had different last names at the time.

I don't know why they care who pays for the ticket. We did the same as the person below. My husband bought his ticket from Casa to here and I paid for his ticket from JFK to Sea with my credit card. Never had a problem. Usually the problem is one way tickets bought with cash, so I'm sure they would be happy to have it paid for with credit or debit.

When I made Jomo's, I just made it on the internet. One way too. No problems.

I do it all the time here at work. I make the reservations for someone else, use my boss' credit card, and have the receipt sent to my e-mail. Never any issues.
