Visa Interview Appointment Question

Guys,

I just received the confirmation letter from the US Embassy here in Manila that our case has been received by them have been instructed to call to set an appointment date for the Visa Interview.

Our question is "Do we get to choose what date (for example, 2nd week of September) the Visa Interview will take place or is it assigned to us?"

K-1 VISA

02/01/2008 Re-filed and sent I-129F to CSC via FedEx (this time assembling the petition on our own with help from our VJ Family)

02/04/2008 Received by USCIS CSC (signed for by N. La Barrie)

02/06/2008 Touched - USCIS notifies us of Withdrawal for 1st I-129F

02/27/2008 Received NOA1 / Check Encashed

06/09/2008 Received RFE Notice via Email/USCIS Website

06/11/2008 Received RFE Notice & Instructions via Mail

06/12/2008 Sent Reply to RFE via US Postal Service with Return Card

06/19/2008 Received Return Card Receipt from US Postal Service for Reply to RFE

11.03.08 : passed behind-the-wheel drive test

11.17.08 : Packet received at Chicago, IL (day 1)

thanks for the prompt reply. the reason i asked since my fiancee wants to come back home for a while and be here during the interview and in order to attend to a few things.

Before the new procedure, USEM is the one who gives specific date of interview. Right now, they will give you a list of available dates and you can choose which date is most preferable to you.
