Biometrics Apt.

I just received my appointment for my Biometrics appointment but unfortunately I am out of the country that weekend (Canada). Will this present a major problem for the USCIS? I am going to try and call tomorrow to reschedule but I would hate for this to delay my case by several months.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

My advice is "bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush". Otherwise if at all possible stick with your appointment.

You can try doing a walkin prior to the appointment date. Some offices have Wednesday for walkins.

Some peeps get accepted, some don't!

There is an instruction in appointment notice to reschedule appointment if you can make it that day. Look for REQUEST FOR RESCHEDULING in your appointment notice.

Don't reschedule!!! Try walking in. If they are not busy, they will accommodate you without any hassle. Just be very nice to the guard. The people inside do not care whether you have an appointment or not.

If it doesn't work the first time, try again. Re-scheduling should be your last option.

I almost re-scheduled too. Thanks to the advice of other members, I saved myself the trouble and possible delay on my application. I walked in on a Saturday 2 weeks before my schedule. The guard didn't even wait for me to finish my excuse for being there before my appointment date. I was in and out in about 20 minutes.

Definitely try an early appointment. All they can say is no. However, delaying your appointment will delay the overall timeline. Consider this, your case is put in line based upon when it is applied. From there it waits for the next procedure (biometrics) before being moved to a new line. They keep things in line based on when the procedures are completed. So, waiting another month for biometrics pushes it back another month.

Thanks for your advice everyone. I decided to leave work early and try the walk-in route. As you said Wifey246, I wasn't even aloud to finish my excuse and the guard pushed me the paperwork to complete.... then 10 minutes later I left with success. The place was empty (I suspect this would not have been the case on a Saturday).
