Our interview today!!!

Well it's over and here's a bit of information although I am sure your interview will be or was much different from ours due to our unique situation.

We went to the INS Dept. here in Tucson. Well, at least it's only about 15 minutes from my house and we didn'thave to drive hours to get there.

Our interview was at 3 PM ,we got there at 2:40 PM and went through security, dropped our letter into a mailslot in the wall and waited. Two other clients were in the office waiting as well.

At 3 PM a INS officer came out and called us in. Her name was Denise, and then she sat us down in a real sparse office like we we're having a job interview. Some guy not introduced sat behind her the whole time looking bored and reading the Phone book. She swore us in, and started asking questions going down the biography page and flipping through the AOS folder of information. She asked Anton for his passport and took his I-94 and then started comparing her entry notes with his passport notes of entry and departure.

She really grilled him on why he was denied entry in Jan of 2005 and it was recorded in his passport , but she did not have any computer records of it.. He explained it all, now he is not good with remembering dates or numbers and started to fumble about what years he had come to visit Tucson. She said, you are nervous. He said yes, I said, he has a very hard time remembering dates and can hardly remember what happened yesterday.

Well, then she asked about how we met and I chimed in and told her the story, and she asked about the wedding and who attended and why our families hadn't attended, why I hadn't changed my name to his name, and if I had traveled to Canada or Austria to met his family and if he had traveled back to PA to meet mine.

Then she asked for some bank documentation, my rent and what was going on there, which I explained to her was a private deal between me and a gentleman who is like my grandfather and only he only charges minimal rent.

She did perk up when I showed her our wedding reception invite which had a PA Dutch Hex sign symbol on it and she said, OH, I think I saw one of those before when I lived in New York. We showed her wedding pictures and cards too.

She then took Anton back and fingerprinted him, sent him back to me and we could hear her discussing with the other guy that she had never had a case like this before since he is a landed immigrant to Canada from Austria, and about the missing POE information.

Anyway after about 5 or so minutes of discussion in the back she came back in, said I can't approve your case today anyway, because your medical file was sent to Missouri, and I will need your immunizations authourized by an immigration doctor since he had included a County Health immunization record in the AOS and that isn't good enough. She also said she will need to perform several more background checks and it should take a month to hear from INS with a Welcome Letter from her, but in the meantime she will not be available and we can come to the office and check if needed on the case status.

If he does get his Green Card and we do not do the Removal of Conditional Status before the time is up within whenever that happens he would probably not be deported to Canada, but to Austria, since he will not have his Canadian Residency anymore. I don't know if that warning is true, but she added it, and said goodbye.

She didnt' even shake hands or anything, and I asked for her card and she said she didn't have any but wrote her name on the back of one of our copies.

i'm so sorry moondancer that it wasn't as pleasant as you might have hoped. Praying that he gets a letter soon and that it will be smooth sailing from there on in. Good luck

Do you mind me asking how you explained about your wedding and the name change thing? I just mentioned this in another post...we also had no family at our wedding and I haven't changed my name...and I'm totally worried that they're going to call fraud, even though we have completely legitimate reasons for both!
